What Do You Do When You Run Out Of Ideas?

in blog •  5 years ago

Let's face it, we all deal with this sometimes and I have found myself with a mental block of sorts currently. Usually I have a list of things I keep to inspire me to come up with an idea or two for a blog or something at work but last few days have burnt me out, to be honest.

That's quite normal too but I enjoy maintaining consistency and I think it's very important to be consistent but generating ideas or solving problems can be hard.

Today, in particular, was interesting and also tasking because I had to do get a very specific task done at work which would help my trades a bit and fortunately after some tweaking I was able to get it done. I wasn't sure because I hadn't done similar things many times and it was a bit out of my comfort zone or so I felt.

But about halfway through I knew I would be able to get it done and eventually I completed the task and it turned out great. But that literally took a lot of time and energy. I also ran out of ideas for the next set of activities as my brain shut down. Coffee didn't help at all. :D

It's midnight and as I write this down I'm still thinking about how to solve the next set of challenges. Brainstorming on my own tonight so let's see how it goes.

But if you are reading this and find yourself in a similar situation, how do you tackle it?

I have found that taking a walk always helps clear that block and let fresh ideas/inspiration pour in.

Somehow I find a way to get out of the problem.

I think meditation is a good way. Just calm the mind and let the ideas flow :)

Favourite music is best therapy to me and if I m able also go to mother nature likeountain, River, Sea or most favourite Jungle

Best wishes to you to come out of any problems...

sometimes you just have to step away from everything and regain your center. My way is getting outside and walking in nature and meditating while doing so. Focusing on breathing while walking and letting my awareness center on whatever it may. That is usually when the mental fog clears for me and I can see a bit clearly again. It may take more than just a walk, sometimes I have to disappear for a couple of days at a time, but I usually come back with a renewed focus on my path.

Hey @firepower

This is a pretty common phenomenon, I think it's usually caused by stress or any other thing that can weaken the body like ailments (even mild ailments), indigestion, lack of sleep, mosquito bites, etc.

Usually at times like this I check myself out to make sure I'm in good health. And after taking care of my health and I'm good I begin to function again.

But if this doesn't stem from ailments I usually change my meals, eat more fruits, drink more water, have walks around nature, have more sleep and rest and I'll be back kicking again. The idea is to do what makes you feel relaxed. You could listen to music or dance or get orgasms, anything that makes you relax.😊

It might mean you need a little break too, or you need to change the things you're trying to produce with your mind. For example I write poetry when my head can't seem to flow seamlessly with prose and I write prose when my head is getting clogged when I request poetry from it.

😃

go for walk

Maybe our brain just need a rest after burn out :)

I can think of anything to write either, and I've had this problem for several months now. I like to write poetry, and last year, and for the past several years, it was coming to me very easily, but not now. All I can say is that there are many prompts on the Internet, but so far they haven't done me any good. You can think of a good way to generate ideas, please let me know.
