Back to the forest I go! Colville National forest for Rock Climbing FAs and camping overnight

A break from the farm!

On of my best friends has a climbing area he is developing and putting up new routes at so I am going to go hang out with him and get back on rock. The area is very near were I camped 2 weeks ago so I am quite anxious to go. It has been far to long since I have climbed and I am really unsure of how I will react to it, though I am sure I'll be fine. It is not super tall cliffs, but the biggest part of climbing is trusting the gear. I am out of practice with the gear so it will take a bit to wrap my head around the intricacies of it all again. At least I remember how to tie in and core safety rules. Climbing is sorta like riding a bike, you just have to get your legs under you again after a break.

I'm really hoping the flowers are in bloom as well because the Tiger Lilies were intense two weeks ago, but by now they may all be gone, we shall see. One of my favorite areas in this part of Washington so it is always good to get back there for any reason. This reason just happens to be a core part of me that has not been fed in a long time.

While there I am going to go explore the climbing area I found that I hope to develop if no one has been on it yet. No matter there should at least be room for a good number of new routes even if there has been some development. Northeast Washington state contains numerous pockets of rock that have yet to be touched by climbers since there are so many prestigious areas in the Cascades that draw attention. This makes for a good situation for those willing to drive, hike, and work to be able to develop new climbing areas on these untouched rock outcroppings.
