Moab, Utah

As we are climbing steadily beyond 7,000 miles into our adventure, we spent some time in Moab, Utah. Well, a bit north of Moab, out on public land.

The ride has been a long one, but a very good one. With plenty of time to talk and think. I have had plenty of time to grow and reflect. I had an opportunity to clear my mind at a road side viewing area during the drive.

We spent several days and nights resting, recovering, and taking in all of creation. We have seen snow capped mountains and desert brush.

We pitched our tent on some solid rock and sand. Actually, more rock than sand. We were unable to actually stake it down. We relied on the weight of our things to keep it in place.

It has been so nice to sit in the warm sun with my bare feet on the cool rock. We have been able to visit with new friends from all over. Some were from Boston, and a couple were from Canada.

We were just starting to debate when to leave when we noticed a storm brewing in the distance. There wasn't much happening in the way of rain, but the wind was picking up.

I was right in the middle of cooking dinner when I heard someone say "Hey the tent is blowing over".

Sure enough because it wasn't staked down it was starting to go. We had to hustle like a team to hurry and take it all down.

While we were in the middle of the tear down, the wind was blowing, and we acquired some damage. During a large gust, The Dreamer grabbed a tent pole, and the wind bent the pole. During another gust, a securing clip tore loose from the tent.

All in all it was amazing. We all grew a little bit from the experience, and now get to learn how to repair a tent. Luckily, we found a great place in Moab called Gearhead. It was wall to wall adventure gear. Anything you can imagine for outdoor adventuring. I'm not talking about a Walmart sporting goods section, but a no fooling professional grade equipment store.

We found everything we need for a great repair, and even some larger tent stakes for next time. On the way out we also had an opportunity to fill up all of our water containers, 18 gallons in all.

Everyone is having a great time, even my best pal George. Thanks for joining me on this adventure.

Ouch, tent crushing wind is not fun. We once had a 6-man tent destroyed in the wind while camping, even though it was staked down. Stressful... Glad you thought it was "amazing" and that you were able to find that cool camping store because of it :)

Thanks man. It is either think it is amazing or cry haha. So it is always about the light!

Haha! Great attitude!
