Taking care of an old shoulder injury

I recently came clean with you all that my health is not where it should be. I have all sorts of health issues and I'm working on improving many of them.

When I was 13 or 14-years-old, my left shoulder got dislocated in a sporting accident. It was no trouble for years, but since having my son and carrying him a lot, I've had pain on a few occasions. In January I started experiencing some pain again. The pain grew and grew until I could barely sleep at night because my shoulder would hurt me so much.

When my husband called me out on my health, well that's when I finally dug out an old 'friend' from the closet. I hate wearing this contraption. It's annoying, it's hot and it forces me to keep my shoulders back and my back straight. Everything a full-time student with diastasis recti, don't want to do, but really ought to do.

I normally wear the contraption inside my more boxy shirts, not on top of it, but I wanted to show you what it looked like on. It's a lot more modest looking when underneath the shirt ;)

Right now I only wear it for a couple of hours a day because it is hard on my body. I need to get to a point where I can wear it all day without discomfort and then wear it for a while and finally ease out of it again.

On a side note, I'm finally trying to heal the diastasis recti after 2+ years. I was told that it would grow back together and not to worry, but here I am with distinctly separate muscles and not a lot of power in my stomach and an aching back at times.

I'm praying the contraption works because otherwise the next step is to have my shoulder purposefully dislocated again and that just doesn't sound appealing to me.
