The Theater-1st Part-Act or pretend?

in blog •  7 years ago

To start with this topic of interest for those who belong to the world of tables, or for those who even opened this post without knowing what the theater is about, it would be good to remember that it is the theater, the theater in technical words is the form of artistic expression that is produced and developed in the field of performing arts. It consists of the creation and representation of a universe of fiction in the same space and time as that of the spectators who contemplate it, through a process of work involving directors, actors, interpreters, manipulators, technicians and other professionals, using the specific means of the scene and establishing relevant codes of emission and reception.

For me theater is a way of life, in my words, it is changing skin, being a reflection of society. From my experience in the world of theatricality two years ago in a professional manner, many have been the questions that I have during my preparation, one of them ...
What is acting? I recently attended a function at the university where I prepare, it was a final sample of students of contemporary scene, a student, in one of his monologues, this same question was asked what I call my attention, What is it for me act? The girl answered herself in a simple and concrete way, Acting is being twice me! Go that this answer I liked and made me reflect responding to several of my personal questions.

"Being twice me" this phrase is in my mind, and what I understood about it is that acting is nothing more than being you, complemented with another being (character), what you have as virtues or defects you add to the character and what is the character in its essence, this will make a kind of fusion. In my opinion if you only want to be like the character asks you, you will fall into pretense and clichés which would not be ideal. Actually there is no formula that you use to act well, and if it existed I think there were no bad actors hehe the performance is and should be spontaneous, free and without paradigms.
Many of those who have started in this world believe that acting is easy, but I am one of those who think that if medicine requires study, vigilance and dedication, acting much more! There must be a preparation, to learn to act and not fall into fanaticism and much worse Pretending on stage, which can be mediocre and bochornal for which is "preparing" to be an actor or actress, falling into fanaticism can be frustrating in the long run for the student who is not aware of this wonderful art.

In this post I openly communicate what is for me acting, I know that there will be people with different opinions, but that is what it is about, that everyone has their own criteria, argument and thought ... I do not have much time doing theater in a way professional but I have dedicated myself to study each area that complements this scenic art, from makeup to sound, everything is paramount, no element is less important.
My main advice for beginners in the tables or those who want to belong in this world, do not watch soap operas hehe, attend theatrical performances better, that will help you and guide you, and also dedicate yourself to reading books, of theater plays of course. I recommend you read works by Berthol Brecht, Federico Garcia Lorca, Alejandro Casona, Shakespeare, Arthur Miller, study a little the acting system of Konstantin Stanislavsky and the biomechanics of Meyerhold.

I hope you liked it, this is only a small part of what I will publish regarding theater and my experience as such in it.
