THE BIG REVEAL [ten truths one lie]

tomb raider revelations: first2

The funny thing is that the first person who guessed, got it right. Actually it was the first two people who guessed. One person in real life (cuz Steemit is fake life, right) the other on here.

I showed the list to a friend IRL who knows me but not everything about me. And they spotted the lie right away. I was lazy and kept that lie in there, only modifying it slightly.

The second first-guesser was the first comment/reply to the actual post which you can find if you click on the link right here, in the text you’re currently reading, starting from the word “which” prior to this one.

Here’s a reminder of what the list contained:

1. I was baptized in the same church as my father was, but was born and raised on a different continent

2. At 3 years old I sang a solo for a school’s holiday concert

3. I’ve been playing soccer for as long as I can remember, since about age 4

4. My favorite soccer player growing up was Maradona, after seeing Argentina vs Greece live in the ‘94 World Cup (in USA)

5. I have “double jointed” tendons in both my ankles (I’m not a physiologist so I don’t know the proper term)

6. I attended a junior police training program for about three years while in high school

7. I’ve travelled to, coincidentally, 11 different countries (excluding layovers and where I was born/raised)

8. When I was younger and cooler I would open beer bottles with my teeth, until I chipped a tooth

9. I’ve torn my ACL, sprained my MCL, and partially torn my meniscus in one fell swoop. Requiring surgery and over six months recovery.

10. I’ve swam in the Red Sea during a lunch break.

11. I’ve “fed” a coconut to crocodiles by throwing it from a small bridge onto a riverbank below

And a reminder that I was nominated by @alinaki15 thank you!

Nikos Machlas, Alekos Alexandris, Nioplias, Saravakos, Alexi Lalas, Cobi Jones, Tony Meola... Romario, Bebeto, Bergkamp, Valderrama, etc.

Yeah so the lie would be quite obvious if anyone was familiar with the ‘94 World Cup or knows where I’m from. Greece was in a group of death with Argentina, Bulgaria and Nigeria. And I love soccer (football / ποδόσφαιρο) and my homeland(s) - so who do you think I was rooting for?

Oh and did I mention I was on summer vacation for part of the World Cup, in Greece? Yeah there’s that too. I vividly remember watching the final match in a village in the mountains, on the island in the Cyclades where my grandfather came from. On a 12” color antenna TV, probably wearing my favorite light blue denim jacket and white high top sneakers. It was a cool night on the veranda, and we were all glued to the tiny tube.

And Maradona while still a good player, he was 33 and I don’t really remember him that much from that World Cup. And according to my dad we actually watched the Greece-Argentina match live at the stadium.

But who I remembered were the guys mentioned above.

So my favorite players at the time, for various reasons, and for several years later were guys like: Nikos Machlas, Tony Meola, Alexis Lalas, Alekos Alexandris...

The ‘94 World Cup was a disaster for Greece but it was still a major accomplishment. It was their first World Cup and they were one of only a handful of teams who’s entire squad played in their country’s own domestic league.

I didn’t have access to a lot of soccer at the time due to it’s lack of popularity in the states at that time and due to my lack of cable television. So I relied on my World Cup trading card collection for my soccer knowledge. Both unfortunately and fortunately I probably had more duplicate cards of the “worst” players than I did of all the “good” players combined. Luckily Greece and USA weren’t really that good.

THE END

If you made it all the way to here I’m rewarding you with these lovely photographs of mine, that’re in no way related to the “lie”, enjoy!

Χαχαχα kalo...egw tous korkodilous tha fovomoun... exete eksikiwthei eseis e?

So is this a way of getting to know who the real you is? hmm interesting.. So if you are from Greece, i should say Khalimera :) . Is it true that the Greek salad has greek origins; or is it in any way related ? There's something i always was curious about ahahaha. Anyway, i'm quite interested to know, what were you thinking when you done that swoop?? Gosh six months in recovery is quite some time, meaning you done it quite bad.. Hope you are fully recovered by now, and you have no long-term serious problems from that. Are you still in police, or practicing.. ? What made you enroll to that.. ? I have a slight disrespect for law enforcers for quite a while because of how nasty they are, and how almighty the consider themselves. So,i'm curious to know as well why was your approach to police training ? Thanks.

Kalimera. Where are you from?

Greek salad: feta cheese and kalamate olives, Greek. Salad is from earth.

Swoop. Get ball. Ball not there anymore. Plant foot to turn. Body turns. Foot stays planted. Knee pain. Sit down. Hold knee. Get helped off field. Ice. Taxi. Next day no work. Now I’m good :)

Police. There are good and bad no matter where you go and who you find. In religion. In government. In school. In work. In your family. In your friends. In law enforcement. Respect is a two way street you have to give it to get it. And in my opinion respect is something that shouldn’t be administered with prejudice.

Hi @hrissm! I'm from the dark, cold, rainy place called England. The place where is such a pleasure seeing an ol' lady with a crown on her head doing nothing and getting paid billions for it. The place where booze and mental problems are as common as olives in Greece. Here you can have the famous Fish'n'Chips dish that has absolutely nothing special about it. Too much advertisement right? Feel free to visit if this package attracts you ;) .

Good you are okay now. As for police, religion and government indeed there are good and bad apples of course. Though the underlying problem is that this bodies require control over someone else in order to sustain themselves. This way of existence undermines another by default, being embedded in its ''genes'' to call it like that. Everything that has this concept doesn't in my opinion support the human being in the long-run. To govern means that someone has to be governed, controlled; to police means that someone self-gave more authority over someone else, that, where all human-beings are and should remain equal to eachother; in religion you are supposed to let the control over your destiny over the hope that someone stronger than you out there in the sky watches over you and will keep you well and so one (briefly) .

And of course respect is respect. It should be everywhere. Although the way society was built (government influenced, misleading media information, propaganda, etc.) was to divide eachother. If we would all act as one there would be no need for government to control us, for police to police us, for religion to blackmail us that we'll end up in hell etc. Just like money, all the above are a very well performed show of smoke and mirrors, and we keep buying it and further perpetuate it.

Anyway, that's just my humble opinion, and of course i am very open to discussion and good food as well :) . Speaking of food, what's your favourite dish, and where is that from ? Cheers.

I don’t have a favorite dish. But I could just jump on the bacon bandwagon.

I’ve been to England. It’s nice. Everything has it’s pros and cons. Are you originally from there?

Mmm as a tourist it is nice cause you get to spend a little period of time, and visiting what is nice. But to settle in there and live longer, you don't see it as a tourist anymore hehe. I'm originally from Moldavia.
