How to save a flooded car

in blog •  7 years ago  (edited)

In light of all the current flooding around the world, I bring you some simple steps to get a flooded car going again.

Don't try to start the car until you have done these things.

  1. Check the oil dip stick. If it appears way too full, that means water got into the oil and the oil and filter need to be changed.
  2. Check the transmission fluid. Same thing as the oil.
  3. Check the air filter. If it is soaking wet, there is likely water in the engine. Remove all of the spark plugs and turn the engine over a few times to push out the water.
  4. Put the plugs back and see if she starts.

Note to self - don't buy a used car in Houston anytime soon...............

But if you are looking for a shell to build a race car, Houston is going to be a goldmine.

I'd be sketched out trying to buy a car without a salvage title though. You just know some scumbag is going to be selling those salvaged cars as undamaged.
