What’s better than a romantic date at the carnival?
Even in the zombie apocalypse, a little downtime with that special someone can lift your spirits. That’s exactly what happened in the latest episode of The Walking Dead.
Not only did we get some awesome scenes highlighting the greatness that is “Richonne,” but we also progressed a bit further on the road to war. There was action, humor, and a foreshadowing of things to come.
Rick and Michonne ended up at a school carnival on their quest for guns. Not only did they find a small arsenal, but they also fell into a stockpile of food – literally. The two have great chemistry, and the episode showed just how much they care about one another. It’s that bond that’s helped Rick gain the courage to fight back against The Saviors.
There were some pretty cool scenes with a zombified soldier shooting his gun (sort of) and a walker trapped in a windshield getting ripped apart. We even had a close call and the showrunners teased Rick’s death for a moment. I had the same look on my face as Mic
honne!
Rick made a heartfelt reference to Glenn, and even illustrated indirectly what this entire season has been about. Sure, we’ve lost people and we’ve seen our heroes get subjugated. But that just means a big payoff is coming. It’s about the future, and the long-term for the show. Jadis decides that the small arsenal is a little too small, demanding more guns before she and The Heapsters will join the fight. You know what this means – Tara may have to come clean about Oceanside even though she swore not to.
Meanwhile at Hilltop, Rosita arrived and asked Sasha to help her kill Negan. There are tons of theories about this one. Some people are speculating that one of them will get a certain iconic comic book death, while others are saying Rosita will set Sasha up. Time will tell, but all signs point to this being the first shot fired in the official war. Bring it on!
