A little about me

I wanted to let my readers know a little about me. I am 60 years old and living in a senior retirement home in the United States. Living with me is my 88 year old mother who has developed a number of severe age related diseases including congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, high blood pressure, stroke, and at one time pulmonary embolism. She had been hospitalized four times in the last few months but is still able to walk. Yesterday evening she was walking down the stairs of our apartment building when she lost her balance and fell down the stairs sustaining serious injuries. At first I thought from the call I got from the medical alert company the fall was minor and she was not seriously hurt and was just being taken to the hospital to be checked out. I was not very worried at that point. When I called the hospital to check on her I was told she was being taken for x rays but that they did not think anything was broken. She got back around midnight with a large bandage on her right arm which I gathered was due to a minor fracture. Then she told me this morning that the reason for the bandage was that all the skin had been torn off her right forearm in the fall which alarmed me. She is expected to make a full recovery except that her physical therapy will have to start over again when she heals. It was a hair raising event for both of us especially since it was her fourth hospitalization in less than four months but, as the old saying goes, all's well that ends well.
