The New York Times can really suck sometimes. And i mean suck very hard. F*cking suck, some would say.
And even so, even with zero expectations, you can get disappointed. That's how powerful ttheir sucking power is.
Take a look at this
That's the headline the NYT decided to go with when reporting on a story of a nurse that got shot by a sniper when providing medical assistance in Gaza.
So what's goin on here? Did she lost her life and couldn't find it? Oh, where is my life? This always happens at the worst moments..! Argh! Im always losing everything!
NYT take a cue from me: People lose their lives when they are in a car accident. That expression is often used to decribe a fatality in life - the randomness of events. When someone gets shot by a sniper there is usually anoter word for it, which is murder.
Also, when reporting on such issues, why not at least mention the Geneva Convention?
ARTICLE 24 -PROTECTION OF PERMANENT MEDICAL PERSONNEL OF THE ARMED FORCES
"Medical personnel exclusively engaged in the search for, or the collection, transport or treatment of the wounded or sick, or in the prevention of disease, staff exclusively engaged in the administration of medical units and establishments, as well as chaplains attached to the armed forces, shall be respected and protected in all circumstances."
ARTICLE 26 -PROTECTION OF PERSONNEL OF NATIONAL RED CROSS SOCIETIES AND OTHER RECOGNIZED RELIEF SOCIETIES
"The staff of National Red Cross Societies and that of other Voluntary Aid Societies, duly recognized and authorized by their Governments, who may be employed on the same duties as the personnel named in Article 24, are placed on the same footing as the personnel named in the said Article, provided that the staff of such societies are subject to military laws and regulations."
It is absolutely disgusting that such a remarkable and influential institution decides to be so negligent in reporting these issues. And yes, they are deciding to be negligent on purpose, because aren't these guys supposed to be the smartest guys in the room, where nothing goes past them? Will someone try to convince me that they didn't thought, for a second Hey, I think there are some serious war crimes going on here. Maybe we should check that out?
But then again, can we expect anything else? They are indeed doing their best to look humanitarianly conscious while at the same time having interests which are not compatible with the well-being of human life. I couldn't do a better job at being so fake, so kudos to them and their evil ingenuity.
