Hello steemians friends in this opportunity I will talk about one of my favorite books and it is about "Sepsis: from the molecular basis to the campaign to increase survival" this book is among my favorites for different reasons: it was a gift from a great friend and also contains a topic (quite complete) that interests me a lot and is the "sepsis"
Unfortunately, they only gave me the digital version, but it is good to read from a screen at times, it makes me more comfortable.
The first time I studied sepsis I found it very interesting, since you have to understand a whole physiopathological process for the explanation of the symptoms.
The definition of sepsis has gone through multiple revisions, according to the latest consensus of 2016, we can define it as follows:
Sepsis is defined as a potentially fatal organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection.
One of the main causes of a patient being admitted to the intensive care unit, and not only that, but also an important cause of mortality, is said to cause more deaths than cancer and HIV together.
This book deals extensively with all the pathophysiological processes that occur in a patient with sepsis, how to diagnose it in time, factors to be taken into account to determine the severity, predictors of death and treatment all this in approximately 600 pages.
The second book that I bring to you is about Surgery titled: General Surgery for the General Practitioner.
This book was also given by the same person and was very useful, especially recently that I was an intern at the surgery service.
What I like most about this book is that it teaches in a schematic, didactic and quite complete knowledge about surgical procedures that the general practitioner should know, that is, most of the surgery books are more oriented to postgraduate students, where they explain the more complex procedures that are not performed by the general practitioner.
For example, most surgery books explain that to solve a pneumothorax, for example, they must place a chest tube but they do not explain step by step how to place the tube, nor do they explain the sutures and their types as detailed as this book does for giving another example.
