THE VIKING HELMETS ... WITHOUT HORNS !!

For a long time it has been debated whether or not VIKING carried horns in the helmets they used to fight.

This is the model to which we are usually accustomed to observe in most representations of the Vikings.

But is this really the true Viking helmet? ... The answer is NO.

Actually the true appearance of the helmets of the Viking Legendary were something like that resembles this:

¿WHY THEN THERE IS THAT IMAGE OF VIKING WITH HORNS IN HIS HELMETS?

The reason that gave rise to this illustration was a great work of the eighteenth century called "The Saga of Frithiof". Where horns were attributed to these helmets to give the Vikings a much more fearsome and wild and thus make them look more violent.
