Bee's wrap is an excellent, ecological alternative to cling film or plastic food containers. Works as a natural reusable packaging. It can be used to wrap bread, sandwiches (for work, going away), cheese, vegetables, fruit (e.g. lemon, onion or cucumber). Bee's wrap has antibacterial properties, thanks to which food stays fresh for a long time.

You can watch this video to learn more about Bee’s wrap :)

How to make your bee's wrap? 🐝

You need a piece of material. Thinner fabrics are more plastic, thicker - they will come out stiffer and we will need an additional string or elastic band to attach them to the product they are supposed to protect.

and beeswax (can be in the cube or in the sheet).

Also useful are: grater, favorite fragrance oils, baking paper and iron.

Now I will describe the process of creating bee's wrap

First, we rub the wax on a grater.

I bought wax in sheets and had to squeeze it to form a mass - something like thick plasticine, then the wax rubs better. Probably even better would be wax cubes. Or using a different technique to crush these sheets, without rubbing it on the grater.

Then I put the grated wax in the bowl and added a few drops of fragrance oil to it (I chose orange).

In the next stage I placed pieces of wax evenly on the material. It is important to spread the wax pieces along the edges as well.

Then, put baking paper on the material with crushed wax and press it with an iron.

I made a mistake and added too little wax. Later I had to rubbed the extra wax and fill up the places that didn't cover it. Fortunately, the material had a white background and the wax was yellow, so it was easy for me to find pieces that needed to be coplemented. When the wax was ready I put it to dry.

This is awesome. I was literally thinking of making these this weekend, and now you've saved me looking up the instructions!!! Love it. I'm so stick of plastic packaging, especially when so much of it goes to landfill even if you put it in the recycling bin! Have you thought of using the tag #ecotrain? They would be very supportive of posts like this.

This fortnight, we're having a HERB MEDICINE challenge, sponsored by Curie! You can win over 40 Steem in prizes. Check out the details by clicking here!
