Leaves curling up at the edges? Why?

in blog •  7 years ago

So the other day I noticed a change on some of the leaves towards the top of one of my pretty flowers.

The edges had begun curling upwards along pretty much the entire leaf. Look at the pictures below...

Although this isn't my first time dealing with indoor plant issues, I never really had this problem before.

After doing a little bit of research I found out that this is most likely due to excessive heat coming from the light source.

This makes perfect sense as I am about a month away from chopping them down and they have grown a tad bit taller than I had anticipated. That would explain why the problem only started happening this week, since nothing else really changed as far as the conditions in the room go. Also the only plants affected are the two closest to the light, so that would make sense as well.

Unfortunately I cannot raise the light any higher so the distance between the top of the plant and the light is only about 2 feet. I'm gonna try to move some of the shorter ones to under the light and have the tallest ones off to the side more and hopefully that will fix it.

Will keep you guys posted on how shit works out.

That’s a good catch! I have an led light so no issues with heat, but I’ve had some plants get to close and cause light bleaching. I did what you mentioned Turing them so the cola isn’t directly under the heat source, also when they barely started to flower i just bent them back a tied down with bread tie.

I think I might try bending them back a little and tying them to sometging. That sounds like a good idea man. I got a ghetto /guerilla grow situation going on and a 600W hps with 1 too many plants trying to max out the yeald, so it's getting tricky towards the end =)

Same here!!! lol

Bleaching and taco-ing are the symptoms I’ve witnessed with my plants getting too close to the light. Another thing to consider is to check the pH of your medium. pH swings can also cause some odd effects (twisting, spots, yellowing, etc). My .02...Good luck with your grow!

Do you happen to have a fan blowing directly on the plants by any chance? This could also show this effect. If so try aiming you fan so it's not blowing directly on the plants. As long as the fans circulating the air, its doing its job!
