Today I m going to write something about a great saint of India, he is not only a great saint but also the SOUL of the Santana(vedantic) philosophy of of India and world. The name of the great personality about whom I m talking about is SWAMI VIVEKANANDA.
Swami Vivekananda was born on 12 January 1863 and breathed his last on 4th July 1902. Though he passed away only at the age of 39 but during his short life period he did many selfless services and gave the world a new thinking pattern by vedantic way. The fruits of his innumerable good works for the upliftment of the society are still being consumed by the world.
Childhood.
Swamiji was born as Narendranath Dutta in a kayastha family in Calcutta which was the capital of British India, on 12 Jun 1863. His father Viswanath Dutta was a attorney at the Calcutta High Court and mother was Bhubaneswari Devi, a housewife and also a devote of God. From the vary beginning of his Childhood he was curious and was highly interested in spirituality. Meditation was also a part of his daily life.
Education.
When swamiji was 8 years old, he was enrolled at Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar's Metropolitan Institution and he continued his schooling there till 1877, when his family moved to Raipur, Madhya Pradesh. From 1877 to 1879 he couldn't attend any school as there was no school in Raipur than. But in 1879 his family returned to Calcutta and within a short period of time Swamiji completed his graduation from a high school. In 1879, after passing school examination, Narendranath entered the Presidency College, Calcutta. Soon he left Presidency College and joined General Assembly's Institution and studied Philosophy. In 1881, he passed F.A.(Fine Arts)/examinations. In 1885, he earned his B.A.(Bechalors Degree) degree from the same college. Apart from these he was also interested in Hindu scriptures, including the Vedas, the Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita, the Ramayana, the Mahabharata and the Puranas.
