Education is of immense importance to the development of an individual and even the nation as a whole. There is no doubt that education brings a light which vanquishes darkness and liberates one from it's power.
In Nigeria, some decades ago, a family with one or two University graduates are usually treated as first class citizens and were envied by families which lacked such graduates. In fact, every one wanted their children to be University graduates and hence, parents sold all their belongings, just to send their children to school with the belief that such children will become successful in life.
Gone are the days when juicy and lucrative job offers used to await prospective graduates before the completion of their first degree. The reality of the present age is that there is no guarantee of a paid job after graduation. It is now a common thing to see Nigerian graduates roaming the streets in search of of nonexistent jobs. The experience is very frustrating as they see it as meaning that their dreams are not being fulfilled.
However, there are a handful of jobs that one can engage in in order to provide for himself and his family. What I mean is that if paid jobs are not readily available, then you can create one for yourself. It is not necessary that one must have a university degree to earn a living.
Instead of the seemingly endless search for white collar jobs, there are a wide range of skills that could be acquired. In all sincerity, entrepreneurial training could be taken before graduation. Depending on your interests, there are several vocations which can make you into an employer of labour if you take them seriously. Before embarking on the training, you can seek advice from people who have experience in the field of our choice.
Wherever you find yourself, or whatever skill you might have acquired, do not stop learning; be the best in your chosen field . You should always remember that the world neither recognizes nor celebrates mediocrity, only men who have attained mastery in their chosen field are reckoned with.
Absolutely Right Education brings light in the darkness. Without education we can't be successful in any field of life @littlefairy!
