^ Felix with his kittens.....

People who have known me over this last year or so, also know that I have kind of 'semi adopted' a wild cat.

We call him Felix.

He's a fucker -And he's wild.

It took months just to get him to eat inside our house. He still never lets us touch him or stroke him.

He hisses at me every morning, when I give him his food. He doesn't mean anything by it, I think it's more of a 'hello' than anything else, at this point .
Neither of us takes it very seriously.
(I kinda get worried when he doesn't hiss).

He sleeps a few feet away from me during the day. (and that took months, to).

And then he fucks off for the night, doing his cat stuff, whatever that is -and we expect him when we expect him.
A lot of the time, he's bleeding from fights, and limping .
He doesn't seem to care too much about any of it.

He's definitely a bit of scrapper.
Sometimes he's back first thing in the morning, with a raging hunger and non stop 'meows' - and sometimes it's 24 hours or more, with no hunger and a 'let me go to sleep on my cushion for fucks sake,' attitude...and it's all fine, we understand each other.
Live and let live..
He always turns up does our Felix...

Then two days ago, he turns up as per usual, and behaves...well... well....not like Felix.

He sleeps in different places than he usually does, and he's seems agitated - and he's also lost this appetite (so unlike him).

I put it down to mites or something... ( I ain't goin' near that little twat, to look at him, oh no... - he'd rip my bloody face off!)

After refusing his food, I thought I'd give him some water, to see if he was thirsty.

And that when some alarm bells started.

He was scared of the water.
Felix isn't scared of fuck all.
He makes rottweilers run away , their tails between their legs.

But he was visibly scared of the water.....
(....hopefully it's because he just wants a beer instead ...but if it's not - I fear he might have rabies, the poor fucker).

I've researched some more stuff, and it doesn't look took great.
But saying that, he's not aggressive (any more than usual) , or drooling with saliva...he's just acting a bit..... weird.

We will see.

But if more symptoms start exhibit over the next day or two - it's the meat clever for my little Felix, the poor fucker.
He's such a nice great cat.

We've been friends for nearly 2 years now... and I respect that moggy.

If he goes downhill - as in seriously showing more symptoms - I'll end it for him...

He would end it with me if, it was the other way around, I know that ....
I can also guarantee that he wouldn't even be bothered to blog about it (if his paws would let him), the fucker.

You gotta respect that in a cat.
Hopefully I wont be called to decapitate my little Felix, , and he'll be back to his usual bad tempered self soon spitting away and scaring the devil himself..

(And you have no idea how bad he smells, either ...bloody hell. Phew! He doesn't seem to care, bless.... And that's with or without rabies..)
This isn't the sanitized US or Europe, btw - I live in the real world. Just for some context...

I hope to have better news for you all tomorrow.

I'm now goin' for a beer...

....he looks a long way from the healthy cat that you see here, below..

Hope the tough guy pulls through this one. Had to put down cats myself before and wouldn't wish that on anybody.

Your cat sounds like a bad ass respectable cat. I hope he recovers well. My parents took in two feral cats when I was younger. They were just kittens that their mom had in our garage and left them.

I also had a dog growing up Stitches who was also afraid of water. We didn't know and tried to give him a bath. Nope, he ran away for 2 weeks and came back starving, looking like a bag of bones. He loved being outside and would get into all kinds of shit. I think animals should be able to come and go as they please and be free.

Felix had all those kittens too? You got your hands full!

Oh, he is def. that!
Thanks.
Just sleeping right now....hopefully its him being poisoned or something, and he can metabolize it out...He wont eat or drink.

....that was a while back - they were his.

The their mum got bitten by a snake and died - her kittens too

My house is a fuckin' curse, for cats! lolol

The mom and kittens too? Damn, curse sounds about right after all that.

Oh poor Felix...I have a similar cat friend too who still hisses at me sometimes.
I hope your buddy doesn't have what you think he might have...
Best of luck.
Cheers

Cheers matey ...no...I think not - he drinking water and eating again, and back to his normal hissing and everything...

(maybe he had a bad hangover or something?)

I was really worried for a day there - his behavior was very erratic.
(even by his standards)

What a relief...I like cats; hate to see them suffering.

Outdoor cats live rough. I learned quite a bit observing them. A meat cleaver? Damn. Don't you have a gun?

I was going for a drama token...

dead is dead.
....hopefully it won't be that...

No sp to vote with at the moment, so just words, as you know, I/we have 4 cats, all live outside, only 2 are what I consider wild, can not touch one, the other hisses when we do, except for when my daughter does, they see no harm in her, Got to love a wild cat or two, just don't let them get rabies, easier said than done, I know, but plonkers no wanting to muzzle their animals, in countries with rabies, gives us? Rabies.
