today i decided i'm going to work on building the future instead of waiting for it to get here.
i used to be excited about the potential of technology, and now i'm just scared. voice assistants, cloud backups, and AI should be awesome, but i know enough about software and wall street that i keep an arm's length on principal. the companies capitalizing on the centralnet have created an ad riddled, privacy eroding ghetto of "just good enough".
and it is good enough, for them. but the way the world connects could be so much better.
offline-first is the biggest draw to the decentralized web for me. creating content and applications that transparently and effortlessly work across cache layers and network partitions is a game changer for connecting the rest of the world. i'm just starting to wrap my head around what is possible with ipfs, filecoin, steem, and others building the next generation network, and today i'm digging in.
Watching this video about offline first is starting my gears turning.
