The Diary Game: Workday and visit to mother.steemCreated with Sketch.

No morning can start well if the night was restless. Summer in Israel in the coastal regions comes with high humidity. Sometimes there’s just no wind at all, especially on the lower floors of buildings. It feels very stuffy, and very often it affects sleep. Last night we had to sleep with the air conditioner on, even though my wife and I prefer natural air circulation in the room. I woke up with the alarm on time , but I only got up after 20 minutes.

The traffic on the highway today was very heavy. Out of nowhere, a bunchh of trucks appeared, and that significantly slowed down the general flow of cars. But I still made it to work on time , even had time to make coffee.

At work in the morning, an almost-conflict situation popped up. My colleague starts workk at 9 a.m., and I start at 8 a.m. Accordingly, patients are invited for the time we begin working. My colleague’s first client was scheduled for 9 a.m., but he decided to showup a whole hour earlier . It was an elderly man from some Arab village . At first, he and his wife were sitting quietly and patiently, but at 8:30 a.m, for some reason , they started getting nervous. The man began yelling at the secretary - “When will I get in for my appointment? I’ve been waiting here a long time. I have a train at 10 from Haifa. I won’t make it!” But the secretary managed to handle him in a verbal exchange and apparently calmed him down enough for him to wait until 9 o’clock, and then he was taken in. But damn, it amazes me how people can lack even a drop of understanding that we don’t set appointment times based on train schedules, we just set a time. And that time can either work for someone or not. The fact that he arrived an hour earlier doesn’t give him any special privileges.

Unfortunately, we can’t choose our clients. And no matter how difficult they might be, we still have to help them and do everything necessary.

Today my mother had internet installed at home from another provider. She switched to a better deal with a different service provider. So after work, I need to drop by her place, set up Wi-Fi on two computers at home and on her phone. She’ll be turning 70 in a year, and people at that age find it harder to deal with these kinds of tasks. So there’s no way she can manage without me. I also needed to disconnect her from the previous services she’s no longer using. For that purpose, in Israel, there’s a website called NETEK. With this service, you can easily unsubscribe from any service where company representatives would otherwise try for a long time to convince you not to leave. After entering the client’s personal data, this site sends a legally binding letter quoting the law that obliges the service provider to close all the client’s accounts within three days. Otherwise, you can “punish” the provider.

So that was my lovely day. The rest of the day I mostly rested. My wife and I watched a couple of episodes of a series and went to bed around 11 p.m. I wish everyone kindness and successful days!
