It's now been over a year since the games initial release back in the October of 2016 and the slow but steady stream of updates, patches and DLC have kept the game fresh and interesting. I've played Civilisation since my dad introduced me to the series at Civ III(which is now free to play on Humble Bundle for a short time) and I have always played casually with my friends. Me and my friends don't really have that much patience so our games have usually ended up in nuclear war or the AI winning a culture or religious victory. With all the changes that Firaxis have made from CIV V and the updates that they have made in the current game such as reducing the amount of barbarians (thank god), CIV VI has gone from a game with few leaders and a lack of diversity in the play style to one with many leaders with great abilities and the opportunity to go in almost any direction with your Civ. So has a year been enough for Firaxis to change CIV VI into a game which lives up to its predecessor, CIV V? Which at first felt very dry and boring but with many updates DLC etc was turned into one of the greatest and most fun strategy games ever made.
Lets talk about the game at its very start and how it felt compared to CIV V. If being honest. It sucked. The game had so many changes and additions but still felt bland and boring. The new civics tree and the districts system was confusing and the joke that were early game barbarians could easily just destroy all that you had created.
The game forced every player to produce armies to fight off endless waves of barbarians, this meant that culture and religious Civ's were at an immediate dis-advantage. The lack of religious buildings, wonders and monuments also made Culture and Religious victory's incredibly difficult.
However, with some time, updates and dead settlers later, the game devs released multiple updates and DLC including new Civ's which made the game much more interesting and fun. Although an expansion pack is yet to be released, it feels like this game has been treated extremely well by the developers and they have put so much effort into the game making changes that were really needed which has the game a fun and interesting to play. I simply cannot wait for what they do next.
Overall, CIV VI 365 days later is not how I expected it to be, especially because of its rough start. But the devs have proved that they can make a game that feels and looks like how a CIV game should be. The new changes worked out very well and was a great addition to the game. To conclude, CIV VI has definitely lived up to the CIV name and i'm sure that I am not the only one who feels the same and eagerly awaits what is to come.

Hi mate! I have to say I was disappointed with Civ 6. I loved Civ 5 and was buzzin' for the new one to come out but lost interest after a few hours... Am I right in thinking there is an expansion coming out?
