Let's talk about Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Hello Steemit Community, in the following lines I will be explaining why I think Brooklyn Nine-Nine it’s one of the best Police-Related comedies ever done, feedback will be more than welcome.

1. Synopsis:

Where to start? The obvious thing it’s a little synopsis about the show, Brooklyn Nine-Nine revolves around the adventures of a fictional 99th Precinct of the New York City Police Department in Brooklyn, set as an American police television sitcom, we will follow Jake Peralta, an immature and talented NYPD detective, and his relationship with his teammates on that precinct.

2. The Cast

The cast, lead by Andy Sandberg as Detective Jake Peralta, have an amazing chemistry hard to match by other shows. Jake is the soul of the show with his jokes and carefree attitude. His love for classic Die Hard will mark most of the gags and easy jokes. The complete cast is as follow:

• Stephanie Beatriz as Detective Rosa Diaz: Intelligent, Badass, Strong, and Fearless. Diaz is one of the best detectives of the precinct, she doesn't like to show her feeling most of the times, she hates romanticism and will always choose violence over peaceful approaches in any conflict. Stephanie has done an amazing job with this character, you will love her badly since she is always crystal clear about everything, all the time.

• Terry Crews as Detective Sergeant Terry Jeffords: Well, let’s be clear about this one, it’s Terry being Terry, nothing can fail, period. Jeffords is a tall and muscle man yet he is worried daddy and he cares so much about the little girls that he will fear danger, he will conquer this fear through the first seasons balancing the love for his family with his duty as leader of the detective team.

• Melissa Fumero as Detective, later Sergeant, Amy Santiago: Smart, Very organized person, a little bit Obsessive and alway by the book. She is all the opposite than Jake and yet they both will fall in love eventually. She is my crush, truth be told. She loves Harry Potter books, and all she wants most is her boss approval.

• Joe Lo Truglio as Detective Charles Boyle: Small and Weirdo guy, he loves food and cook (he even know a lot of traditional meals from around the world). Jake's best friend in the precinct, the most awkward jokes will have his name. He only goal is to be Jake’s bestie forever.

• Chelsea Peretti as Administrator Gina Linetti: Captain Holt assistance, she is very annoying and vain. She can spend all day on the cell phone or in front of a mirror. I don’t like Chelsea Peretti work, and Gina always makes me feel annoyed, yet the truth is that Gina always find her way to save the day because she is sharp-eyed and has a solution to any problem.

• Andre Braugher as Captain Raymond Holt: Amazing character, he is Smart, formal, and stubborn. He fought his entire career for recognition since he is gay, yet he will become some kind of father figure to Jake, and Amy Santiago mentor. He is always there to help his detectives.

• Dirk Blocker as Detective Michael Hitchcock, and Joel McKinnon Miller as Detective Norm Scully: Hitchcock and Scully are best friends and always do everything together, yet Hitchcock is trying all the time to replace Boyle as Jake best friend. Scully, on another hand, is the oldest member of the precinct yet he is the more incompetent of all.

3. The Best:

As I said before, the chemistry between all the cast it’s amazing, you will fall in love with their characters, you will laugh, you will cry with them, you will feel relate to them in some cases. In a cast so well mixed and accomplished, and with so powerful characters both males and females, you will always find something to attach to.

The best of all is that the series uses the humor as a vehicle to talk about real problems and issues. For example, Captain Holt struggles to show his fellow's comrades his value due to the fact that he is gay it will be shown through the entire series as flashbacks, the bullying he faced during his entire career as the first black homosexual detective of the NYPD. Talking about Holt, he has a multiracial relationship with a university professor called Kevin.

Through the series and, most importantly, thought this characters you will know about human complexity, racial issues, sexual issues, parenthood problems, relationships problems and much more. There are so many themes and all of them are so well represented and dealt with smart humor.

4. The worst:

The series has been canceled after 5 seasons due to low ratings, Fox doesn’t want a series that passed from 6 million viewers to only 2 million. Another victim of the streaming era perhaps. Let’s hope that Netflix picks up the show for a season 6 someday. This show deserved better.
