The Plan For Now

With the border still remaining closed, it looks like we will be stuck here for a bit longer than planned. We've told our nanny find another employer so she will be out 1 Sep. After that, it is all on our own. We didn't end up signing up for full day school, so it is half-day only.

That means having to keep the kids occupied for the remaining half of the day. Then back to work after they sleep. Going to be a challenging few days and weeks ahead till we move. With Delta, I'm not sure if that will even be possible.

So, now we are panicking about Delta but I'm still not sure if there's reason to panic so much if society as a whole is vaccinated and healthy. Looking at the cases in India, there was a massive spike and then a huge drop off.

We seem to be fearful of resuming normalcy and maybe it is the fear that is worse than the actual disease. Now, I'm not advocating being foolhardy but take all the necessary precautions but those precautions must make some sense. I'll give you an example.

Country A allows its citizens to fly to another country where there are Delta cases and fly back but doesn't allow visitors from a country with no covid cases for the past 30+ days and no delta cases. I can understand that citizens have rights and you can't stop them from flying but at least open up to low-risk countries.
