One of the most baffling things for minnows on this platform was the level of engagement they get after their Introduction posts. The typical Introduction posts has comments from both bots and Humans who welcome them to the community and help with some tips to get started with.
And for people like @eurogee who made an upward of $100 thanks to @blocktrades . The level of engagement they get from subsequent posts can be very discouraging as it falls far of their expectations. I know people who quit Steemit because people did not reply their posts
When I joined Steemit. I had no form of guidance to know how the platform works. But I was someone who had read a lot online so I was able to navigate the platform and find out how things work. A lot of newbies don't even want to make out time to read the FAQ's or even the more simplified Bluepaper
These kind of people end up struggling on Steemit and I sometimes wonder how they want to survive on Steemit if they don't want to learn the ground rules
With that said here are the three things you have to keep in mind if you are going to survive on this platform
People Bring Upvotes
One thing that people who whine about earning nothing on their posts fail to realize is that it is Humans that are behind upvotes and for you to get them you need to connect first. Building relationships on this platform is relatively easy compared to other social media Sites. I for one have noticed the drop in my post performance and that is because I spend barely two hours on this platform daily
That wil be ending soon as I am close to settling the issues that are plaughing me. I am also working on a blog growth strategy that will no doubt bear friut and I will also share it here on my blog once it starts working
Growth here on Steemit is 40% content and 60% context. Context means you ability to build a rapport with the general community. I know people who write good content but still lack growth due to lack of context
Pride Does Not Help
This is one of the most follish mistakes people make on this platform. They fail to ask for help and when they make a fatal mistake they blame you for not giving them a full guide. These are the kind of people who before they join Steemit will want you to beg them to signup as if you are getting a referral bonus for bringing them onboard
There are a lot of people on this platform willing to help, but they won't if you don't let them know where you are having difficulties. The Blockchain is not a place for proud or timid people
You Need The Community
Blogging on Steemit is not a solo game. You need the community. Steemit is designed in such a way that your Steem Power gives you little reward, but when the love is spread you get more than you can ever give yourslef
You need to network with the community so as to enjoy what Steemit has to offer.
The Blockchain is a big space and you have a lot to learn. You need people who will educate you about the different things they know. You can never know it all, there is a quote I normally use to illustratge this
As the circle of knowledge grows, so does the boundary of Ignorance
I used to be lazy with reading long posts even on Facebook so when my Friend @hornblende introduced me to steemit he gave me links on the FAQ's to go and read but I found them boring and I'll always come back to ask him questions that I can get answers to just by reading, but later I realized reading it yourself actually helps you understand better, steemit is the first blockchain I'm using and I learnt everything about crypo currency here and so I started expanding my activities and I started connecting with people here like what I'm doing right now. Like I said yesterday on your previous post, I've earned a lot from commenting and connecting with the community, you can't grow on steemit by sitting and just writing post, if you don't connect with people and create your audience you'll remain in the shadows. Although getting some whales attention is quite hectic cuz they have lots of people on their tail, you're not the only one trying to drag their attention, but since you're finding it hard to get to them to ur blog, why not connect with people around you first, take myself for example, I'm a Nigerian and I know we have have great Nigerians here who will someday become whales too cuz I know we are never left behind, why not become a part of their journey so when they get there you'll still be their pal😊. I believe in @ogochukwu and we have others like him too so instead of chasing 'already made whales' Lol, why not stick with the ones on their journey there? I hope I've made some sense? Let me stop here first, e don too dey long 🤣

Sometimes, reading isn't the problem. All of us aren't really good content creators. To be frank, I left Steem for a couple of weeks to decide if I should quit. The level of engagement I expected isn't what I'm experiencing. But I'm back now. Lemme give it one more shot. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Hello @oluebubesyd
I know it is discouraging but the truth is that you will have to drive engagement if you want to recieve it

@kingeazi it was the same with me earlier but not the same anymore I have now become wise
but this just makes a lot of sense to
@ogochukwu I also think that to make a stay worthwhile is by bringing quality to the platform. I've read quite some funny write-ups here on steemit and go back home feeling like I just wasted my time going through it.

Very nice post. Please upvote and follow me :)
The spam never ends, but I bet after one or two flags, most spammers turn a new leaf. Though I usually ignore spam, some find it hard to ignore, and I don't blame them as it can be freaking annoying.
Ride on.

you are right about this, first when i came onto this platform with zero rep i was confused as i don't understand how it works and how to earn,
i left once cause i was tired of making 0USD but guess what? i came back and decided to die on steemit even if it won't yield me any profit, why i used profit is because.
the platform says content creator's, meaning any thing we showcase on this platform is a product and showcasing it to the crowd to see who love it like they do in galleries,
yea though i don't normally get big upvotes on my post at least i can still managed the 0.20 cents i get on my post.
but i pray one day we all who strife hard to succeed on steemit will have a say and succeed.
thanks for putting this up, what a relieve.

You said it all right @ogochukwu, I've gotten to understand that making it big on steemit needs mire commitment than we think. I think steem itself is a life and you just have to live the steem life daily.... Thanks for sharing this as it will be useful to minnows like myself @gloxypearl

Community and more important one that you fit and feel confirmable in is very important to find early on. They will be the first ones to notice when you have created outstanding work and try and help when they can.
I struggled for a long time to find a place I enjoyed and felt like I was being a contributing member of. After finding a wonderful place I can’t imagen not having them in my life here.

@ogochukwu, you are very right.. I have not been actively connecting with people for 2 weeks now and i noticed that my post activities reduced as well. We need to be connecting consistently with people to grow.

Those are great conclusions. Sometimes even with those guidelines it is not guaranteed that one will gain success. But without it, there is no way to prosper.
Cheers :)

Thanks slot my brother. Like one guy I invited over to steemit, he only put up two post, since then refuse to write another. All he usually said is for me to show him ways to earn invite. Bro will I do magic? I always say to this guy, communicate with the community, post quality contents , makes friends, ask questions, read and read, yet all he does is to sleep. I wish they will all read your post. Thanks alot

You nailed it dear.....
Steemit is not a ponzi or a referral business...
It's an amazing community ever come across before... Have learnt that in order to succeed here.......i need to build and develop relationships because no one is an island unto herself and a tree cannot make a forest.
Thanks for sharing @ogochukwu
