Who the heck still calls Cryptocurrency scam?
I guess people have fallen victim multiple times and that sucks a lot, I get angry whenever people say that but at the same time I try to reason with their point o feel view and when the individual is coming from or what him or her have been through.
Earlier today I was trying to lecture some men on what Cryptocurrency actually is, I was on a shuttle to the island and an advert came on the little TV on the bus, that's what trigger the ignorant comments from these two men.
Unlike me, I'm one of those mute commuters, so hearing the fallacy from them prompted me to speak up. I tapped one of them as they were sitting the row before me, the man looked at me and I could tell that he is educated but lacked knowledge about the whole Blockchain and Cryptocurrency as a whole.
Here I was, a Steem minnow and Crypto enthusiast, trying to communicate in low level language and local dialect so that I won't look like some glorified marketer trying to sell a product.
As much as I tried to converse in low a tone so that it would be between the three of us, these men kept raising their voices so that other commuters would join in and I would be defeated, but it never happened thankfully because I'm one of the shy people on earth.
A popular Instagram celebrity just signed a Crypto deal with a Crypto exchange and that was the Genesis of the brouhaha, one claimed they were 419 (fraudsters) to have given the comedian such a nice brand new SUV as part of the endorsement. The other said they must have taken a of people's money and now lavishing it.
Naturally I use to ignore such topics in public, but I felt the need to correct these guys and orientate them, I started by letting them know how the Internet started then unto the Blockchain. They seem to agree but something in them won't back down as they've made a lot of people laughed on the trip with their randy comments.
Then I asked if any of them ever traded in Stock, luckily one seems to know a great deal about stock exchange.
My silver lining I thought to myself, I told them to consider Crypto as Stock but digitally spendable any moment unlike Stock exchange that have to be locked up for some time then you go through several levels of paperworks to convert to money.
The only Cryptocurrency they knew a and that's Bitcoin, telling them there are about one thousand more like Bitcoin made everyone look back thanks to one of the men always re-quoting me and louder than my own tone seven times.
Not so amusing as I break my mute code of conduct on any public transport, but I have a feeling one of them would go and research more on the topics discussed, the other dude seems too deviant and I pray not meet him or people like him to have to lecture what Cryptocurrency is to them!
Adios!
You are a legend... and i mean that. It will take a lot of courage (maybe, a bit of highness) to engage in such sentimental discussion in a public bus in Nigeria.
Firstly, a lot of Nigerians are sentimental and wont accept other people's perspective as it 'translates' to weakness and lack of knowledge. Add that to the fact that many people have gotten their fingers burnt or simply scammed using bitcoin as a tool.
My country needs a lot of education in how blockchain and cryptocurrency, even the Internet work. It is not enough to use the Internet to check on other people's lifestyle and celebrity gossips.
i enjoy your rant.

They tell us that cryptocurrencies is a scam just like vaccines. Well, it depends on what people put in the vaccines, for example. There are thousands of cryptocurrencies competing against each other. That's good. I'm resteeming your article.

That’s old mindset that’s obsolete in our crypto world brother, thanks for defending our faith in crypto anyway.
