Having recently joined Steemit, and with Columbus Day coming up, I felt compelled to write this. Every year there seems to be more negativity directed toward this holiday.
"Columbus didn't discover anything" I often hear people say. He didn't? Newness can never be denied us. True, the Americas were already there. But, nothing can be discovered that isn't already there. We can only discover what's new to us. Who are we to deny the joy of such discovery? Should we dismiss our children's discoveries simply because they've been discovered by others before them?
Though we name it after the one who can be given claim to the discovery, celebrating the concepts of discovery and exploration is what we should focus on. Fortunately, Steemit offers the perfect platform for these concepts. Since I've been here, I've had a lot of fun exploring Steemit and discovering all it has to offer. And meeting some cool people along the way.
Steemit makes me want to explore all this world has to offer so I can share my discoveries with all of you. Share my joy. Here's to many years of Steeming...Steam on!
Nicely said! There is joy in exploration. Negativity should not be allowed to impede the journey.
