Yesterday was the day I sold my house.
Yesterday was also the day my old neighbourhood disappointed me for the last time. Because when we arrived early yesterday, we were met with this:
I know that neighbourhood long enough by now to know it would disappoint me one way or another, so I planned ahead for it. We drove up north to my soon-to-be-sold house hours before the actual appointment.
If the neighbourhood wouldn't screw me over, my house would have had some kind of surprise in store for me. That's just how my luck works. This time it was the neighbourhood.
Basically, someone had taken away 5 parts of my fence. Four of these parts were nowhere to be seen. The fifth one was lying broken in my garden. I guess a broken part wouldn't help them out much for their own fence.
Honestly, this was a new low, even for that neighbourhood.
So, I was pissed off, but I remained calm. I was just going through the motions, having kind of expected something to bite me in the ass one last time. I took pictures and then we checked out the rest of the house. Tested the water, checked if everything was empty, etc.
Then, we headed over to McDonalds, because we still had a lot of time to kill. We had something to eat and drink (I stole my fiance's french fries and drank tea) and then we hopped into the car again. See, my fiance had the great idea of visiting my insurance company, since we were close anyway.
We headed over to my insurance company, explained the situation and the nice lady made a call to see if they were able to cover the damages. They'll reimburst me for the parts, but I guess I'll have to pay to get someone to put them back up. We're not heading over there ever again.
So, slightly relieved, we went back to McDonalds, because we still had some time to kill. We got a small snack, waited for a while and then headed back over to the house. I called a handyman, but he didn't do fences. He did give me an idea of where to go for help though.
We still had some time to kill, so I sat down on the floor until the buyer arrived. She hadn't even noticed the broken fence! But hey, I try to be fair, so I told her all about it and how we'd get it fixed. She then proceeded to whine about the garden not being tidy. Well I'm sorry, but that wasn't the agreement and I'm not driving all that way to fix up a garden without any tools and these tools simply don't fit in my car! Oh well.
My real estate agent arrived and we did a final walk through the house, where she apparently had trouble seeing the same charm in the house as she did the first time she saw it.
Can't help you there. Not like it looked different the first time around.
So, with that added negativity, we all got into our cars to drive over to the notary office. Once there, we signed everything, got back into our cars and we all drove home.
Now I had imagined that drive back home to be filled with happiness and relieve. With the crappy events and negativity of the buyer though, there wasn't as much of that as I would have liked. The headache I had all day didn't really help much either.
Once back home, I got on the computer and started making arrangements for the stupid fence. I tried ending my electric and gas contract, but you can do everything online, except end your contract. No, for ending a contract, you have to make a phone call. Oh my gosh, I was so annoyed! I refused to call (I hate calling) and hunted down their contact form instead. I dropped all information into that form and figured that'll have to do.
Then came the water company. They weren't so childish as to not allow me to end the contract online. However, their site refused to let me log in. Annoyed again, I hunted down yet another contact form and dropped all information into that to send it their way.
After that, I re-tried filing charges for the fence (insurance company required me to file charges), because I forgot to tell you, I tried filing charges first, but they said their system was down for maintenance. More annoyances! Anyway, this second time I managed to get through. So now I'm waiting for confirmation on that to send back to my insurance company.
By this time, I had first contact with a company to repair the stupid fence. I send them pictures and the address and he said he'll get back to me in the morning with a price and time.
Then, I dropped a picture in the neighbourhood's Facebook group, asking whomever did this to come forward and settle this with me. I also asked for any eyewitnesses to send me a private message. People started replying with shock and someone told me they had this happen aswell, and so did their neighbours.
Who the fudge steals part of someone's fence??
Oh my gosh, humanity needs a serious cleansing.
Anyway, after all of this, I do feel a little relieved about finally being rid of that house. That's one big weight lifted off my shoulders. Now I just need to get this stupid fence repaired and after that, I can focus completely on our future.

Oh no, it was the buyer who spewed all of that negativity. My real estate agent actually was a great guy! He did his job perfectly :D
Yeah, I'll be happy to be completely done with that place. What a downer!

Oh no problem! I'll be honest with you though, I never watch streams from... anyone, but I try to support a few Steemians with an automatic vote. Friends and gamers mostly, as long as they keep sharing nice content and/or interact with me often. My way of giving something back when I don't have a lot of time to go through my feed :-)

Maybe they're hoping to cobble together some sort of franken-fence, lol? That is definitely some weird ass behavior.

Aye, I guess so! It's definitely the first time any of us had seen this happen.

It's honestly so freaking weird I just can't help but laugh about it. Part of me wants to assume it's some drug addict who thinks he can sell pieces of fences for money since I can somewhat rationalize that as just being dumb. The other part of me just wants it to be something even more stupid so I can laugh harder about it, lol.

I would have flipped tables if I saw my fence broken and missing, good job on being rational there.
I also hate calling companies and try to handle everything online as well. One thing after another though, that's horrible. I'm glad I saw today's post and how you are doing a lot better c:
I'll tell what happened to me today.
I was trying to shower, but the handle is the pull-out kind and it came off when I turned it on. I was panicking and freezing because I didn't raise the temperature. So I push it back in and the shower turns off. I try to turn it back on but it couldn't lock in place so I'm half wet, looking for a screwdriver. I fixed it though!!
Gotta push through the bad, and make it to the good!

Oh no, cold shower sounds horrible! Well done for fixing it yourself though!
I've read a few of your posts today, sounds like you've been going through a whole ordeal yourself aswell. How are you doing now?

Glad to hear it. Time heals all wounds they say, so just hang in there for time to do its job! It's good to have plenty of distractions until then :D
Oh yes, definitely!
