Five years, guys and gals, it's been five years since I joined this happy place!
(I wrote this post for my Hive blog, but Steemit is where I started and still hang out a little, so it is relevant here aswell!)
Hivebuzz notified me of my fifth birthday on Hive, otherwise I would have completely forgotten about it. So thanks for that!
Five years. I haven't been active for all of those five years though. There were years where I hardly wrote anything at all. Busy with work and way too low on energy. I'm still/again low on energy now, but there's no job currently to compete for the small amount I do have, so I write!
I remember I started blogging back on Steemit during my burnout period. It helped me challenge my mind a little without the added pressure of an actual job with deadlines and people counting on me. I loved having something to do and I think I wrote almost daily in that first year.
Later, I started a job and eventually wrote less and less. I just couldn't combine the two. Then my second burnout hit (yay...) and I returned to Steemit, only to find it holding many, many posts with writings I couldn't understand. Turns out, while I was away, you had all moved! So I claimed my Hive account and joined you.
It's been fun to be back and quite rewarding aswell, which is great for someone who's not able to hold a job right now. Sure, jobs pay better, but atleast I don't feel completely useless! And it's fun to challenge my brain again. Without the added stress of deadlines, again. Socializing is also a lot easier when doing it out of the comfort of my own home with no one around!
I'm hoping to stick around for a lot more birthdays, ofcourse. Although I'm also hoping to somehow find my energy again and start challenging myself in some kind of a 'real' job. I'm not sure when or how that's going to happen though.
Anyway, for now I just want to thank my followers for always being around, my commenters for taking the time to read and write thoughtful replies and my upvoters for supporting me. I know I don't always write back as much as I should if I were a well-rounded social person, but I guess you know I just don't have much energy. I try and I hope my upvotes make up for what I sometimes lack.
Now, on to number six!
