Foodie writing to you from the past

Today is the 17th of july.

I was supposed to have internet by now, but our new provider has messed things up yet again and we now have to wait for a mechanic to help us out. Three more days without internet.

Hubby returned to work yesterday, so this means I can't leach off of his phone internet either. Basically, that means I have no way of reaching Steemit! Seeing as I've spend most of yesterday doing random useful stuff to fill the time, I have less of those things to do now, so I figured I'll just write now, post later.

Our house is mostly done and with that I mean I've unpacked most things and found a good place for them. I'm sure I'll switch things around a bit until I'm completely satisfied but for now, atleast we're not living inbetween boxes. I call that a win!

We spend our days relaxing in our new home, buying some things for home improvement, actually doing the home improvement and we also went to the amusement park a few times. Mostly we'd prefer to run away screaming again, quite soon after we arrive there. Schools haven't all started vacation yet, which means loads of class trips to the amusement park. They arrive even before opening time, so that quick ride in my favorite roller coaster turned into running away from a huge crowd and queue and searching for a different ride to go on. The park is open until eight in the evening from now on though, so we might try heading over there close to closing time to see what the lines are like then. Otherwise we'll just try early mornings again once all schools are closed.

The weather has been amazing! Well, a little too hot for my liking, but it's fine in the shadows. There's loads of sun and no rain at all. Not good for the garden, but it is good for a vacation feel. When things get too hot outside, we can hide inside. The house has stayed surprisingly cool through these hot days. Walking around on the stone floor on bare feet helps to cool me off loads too. That way, my feet are able to keep their usual, icy temperature. Oh yes, once my feet are warm, I know I'm at risk of overheating!

In the last few days of hubby's vacation, I started missing internet access. I still need to sort out a lot of things due to the move, like address changes. I also need to find us a new doctor and dentist and seeing as I just turned 30 aswell, I need a doctor's appointment right away for a standard checkup us ladies all get at that age. There's things I want to get sorted for getting married too. Do a name change or two, get a discount for road assist, that sort of thing. Can't do any of that until I have internet.

I was okay with waiting until monday. Sure, it had already taken two weeks longer than it normally should have, because they messed up. But hey, accidents happen and this way, it was like a real vacation, right? Then monday came around. No internet yet. I followed the regular IT advice of 'Have you tried turning it off and on again?'. Still no internet. Oh well, I waited a couple of hours. Tried again, still no internet. Hubby called them from work, after which they said "Hmm, well maybe it'll turn on a little later today. Try resetting and if there's still no internet in the evening, call again.". Right... So I reset the damn thing. Multiple times. Light went off, light turned green... light turned red. In the evening, hubby chatted with their support. "Try unplugging" sure Sherlock, we'll try that again. "Oh by the way sir, can I ask you something?" Okay... "Have you heard of our 'Complete' package?" Wait... Are you seriously trying to sell us something while you're helping us figure out why your service isn't working? Hubby simply said 'yes' and told her it's still not working to get her back on track. "Try resetting"... Okay.... Still not working, so she said a mechanic would have to come over to help us out. Thursday. Three days later. Fine! "And sir, can I ask you something else?" Okay... "Have you heard of our 'Complete' package?".

I'll tell you, my dear Steemians, I had steam coming out of my ears at that point and would have liked nothing more than to take over that particular conversation. Hubby's way too polite sometimes! He told her 'yes, but we're not interested'. I would have told her many other things.

So, as I said, now I still don't have internet. Aside from being annoyed at their horrible service and moronic mistakes and systems, I'm also annoyed I can't get stuff sorted out yet. I like making everything in order. I don't like waiting when I've got things on my mind that need sorting. I get frustrated. Also, I've been away from access to my crypto's for too long by now! I want to see how my precious babies are doing (although I'm sure it's still one, big downer).

Oh, and I also found a job which I'd be horrible for, but they use the applications I'm kind of a specialist for and some knowledge about those would be nice for the position aswell. There aren't many specialists for that particular set of software, but not a lot of jobs to find there either. That's sad, because I love it and it's basically what I'm best at with my current knowledge. So I wanted to write to them and tell them how horrible I'd be for the full job, but I don't want a full job anyway, I want a part-time job. I wanted to tell them I'm the part-time specialist they didn't know they were searching for and I would love to finally put my knowledge to good use again. But ofcourse they are recruiting through a couple of recruitment agencies, so I don't know what company this job would be for, so I can't reach them unless I go through recruiters and these recruiters are recruiting for the job I would be horrible for, not for the non-exisiting job I would be perfect for!

Argh, more frustration!

Luckily, I have a perfect home in the middle of nature, which calms me back down.

I've been reading Michael J. Sullivan. He has awesome books. Hubby just ordered me the third in the series I am currently reading, because I was frustrated about not having internet for another few days and I would 'surely have finished my book by then and I don't have number three yet, so what the heck am I supposed to do with my time?'. Hubby is perfect (and hubby just wanted to stop my whining...).

Oh, and I played Ark, because you can play that single player without internet. I've been exploring the latest map where you don't have flying dinos. It's quite cool and once I managed to tame a horse, I felt a lot safer. I also tamed a raptor. Then two. Then three and four. A couple of scorpions aswell. Then more raptors. I stopped counting at 10. By now, I have an army of raptors, scorpions and ravagers and I feel safer and safer. I drag them across the map to level them up and to explore. There's sections of the map I haven't dared to enter with them yet though. Gosh, they look so awesome. I entered them solo a few times. It always ended with me dead on the floor. Usually unconsious while watching my health slowly drain away. It wasn't a good experience, but while sprinting around there, desperately trying to stay in front of everything that wanted to eat me, I did see awesome surroundings, so my goal is to walk there some day. Preferably without dying.

Hubby wasn't able to join me in my Ark adventure sadly. First, he told me he had uninstalled the game a while ago. Couldn't very well download it without proper internet, so no Ark for him. A week later, he discovered he did, in fact, still have the game. I just stared at him and sighed. It didn't help much though, because apparently, Ark can't be played over LAN. Not even when hosting a private match over that particular LAN. For some reason, it still needs internet to actually show this private match. Not sure it's Ark's issue or Steam's issue, but it was frustrating nonetheless. So, we'll have to wait longer for that too. I'm not playing anymore now, because I started losing interest in doing the same thing over and over again (leveling my army) and I wanted to play with hubby because somehow, when hubby's around, I don't die all the time.

And lastly, I don't know how my oven works. I mean, I can turn it on, but the images that tell me what setting does what are no longer there. Wiped away by vigorous cleaning I imagine. The first week, I tried to bake a cake on a random setting. That particular adventure ended up in hubby dismanteling the smoke detector and me running outside in a cloud of smoke with a cake in my hands that looked like charcoal on top. The bottom half was surprisingly edible though...

So I have to somehow figure out what each setting is for, before I can actually use the damn thing. I also have to guess at the right temperatures, because they have also been wiped away by the same, vigorous cleaning. I'll probably just make cookie dough some day soon and try baking a couple of cookies at a time. See what works.

Well, when I started writing this, I wasn't sure what I had to talk about. Turns out, a lot! I'll upload this once I have my precious internet back (or when I feel up to using my slow netbook and hubby's slow phone internet).

Hope you're all doing well!

...and I thought it was only us South Africans that had to endure such frustrating bad service delivery lol!

Glad to hear you are enjoying the new home finally. I love moving into a new place, its like a clean canvas that you get to paint something new from scratch!

Oh yes, moving into a new place is pretty awesome (if you forget about the actual heavy moving part)! A chance to re-decorate your entire living space :D

yes yes... lets forget the stressful part shall we ;) lol!!! - moving along swiftly to the aesthetics! haha!!!

I don't know how you put up with that internet provider, your men should have gone spartan on their asses! Last time a net provider wasn't doing his job my father got so angry and yelled so much over the phone that they sent a technician straight away, the men came with an extra router which should have cost us 50 bucks but was free instead, the problem was solved immediately!

I wanted to go spartan on their asses! Hubby stayed calm though and to be honest, the technician they send a couple days later did everything he could for us and fixed everything right up. Even gave some advice on when to call to get better help next time. It helped calm my rage, as did my surroundings :-)

Awww! I hope that you can find a job that you enjoy! And what? I hope there aren't too many lines at the amusement park. It's good that the house isn't hot—our weather insn't too bad out here either!

As far as the jobs, I hope you find something better suiting for you!~ 💞

Aww thanks @shello <3

We went to the amusement park again on sunday morning, right when they opened up. We managed to hop straight into my favorite roller coaster without waiting in queue this time :D

no prob!~ :D

And ayeee, I would have been so upset if I had to wait behind a class x'D
