As I said before I started looking into nutrition because I wanted to optimize the outcome of my training. But after watching several documentaries like the one from my previous blog I realized that so much more depends on our daily food choices.
I began to eat and buy my food more consciously. The more information I got, the easier it was for me to become aware and make rational decisions in the store. I mentioned before that it was a process for me. I had to try out a lot of new products in order to change my eating habits. Therefore I learned about loads of new and different food products. Things I have never heard of before or just stuff I didn't really eat regularly. I tried out quinoa, amaranth, buckwheat, millet and all kinds of beans and other legumes. I was amazed by the variety and richness of those foods!
Luckily I was raised with the words 'You won't know how it tastes before you haven't tried it' so I was open for all those new experiences and I can sincerely encourage you to try one or the other new food from time to time as well. It won't harm you but you will potentially find a new favorite meal!
I began to reduce my meat consumption, bought plant-based milk instead of cow's milk and kept informing and educating myself.
For me every reduction on animal products was a step in the right direction and with that in mind I wanna leave you with another TED-Talk that might help you see it the same way.
