Chips are not just a tasty snack. Fat, oil, and the chemicals in potato (or other) chips make them a perfect fire-starting material.

    This is a pretty good trick, but another similar one that I have found to be very useful is dryer lint. It burns pretty well and stays lit for a decently long time. The best was to use it is to shove some lint in a toilet paper tube and light that.
