My Camping Cookware? You Decide!

in blog •  7 years ago

This is another selection of items from Varusteleka because I really like what they've got. This one will be a bit different because I am undecided between a few different options. Let me know which one you would like more and why!

I plan on camping in the near future with some friends. Naturally, mess kits will be needed. Mess kits, for those who don't know, and cookware kits. Each military did something different, but I have narrowed the selection down to 3 (more like 2 actually).

Option 1: Czech

(also in 1st picture)

Pros:

  • 2 pots and 1 lid/frying pan in one compact package
  • aluminum so lightweight

Cons:

  • No cup, mug, or bottle to store water in.
  • no cutlery

This kit is obviously more set up for someone who is cooking for more than one person, as opposed to a single person kit.

Option 2: Serbian/Yugo

Pros:

  • Enameled pot
  • plastic bottle
  • carry pouch
  • cutlery set
  • cup-like item

Cons:

  • only one pot
  • pot it small.

Final Option: Standard European Stuff

These styles were used in Germany, Poland, Hungary, France (ish), and many other countries. Why this is the case completely beats me, but there must be a reason.

Pros:

  • pot has loop handle to hang over a fire

Cons:

  • so much extra space inside
  • only a pot and a pan
  • stupid shape
  • no cutlery

Summary

Ok so tell me which one you like most and why! I will take this into consideration for the next one I buy and I will review it here in greater depth.

Sort Order:

I like the first one (The Czech). The reason being it’s made of aluminium, so it is light to carry and more or less easy to wash. Aluminium cooking pots do no stain nor stick much.

thanks for the input man!
