This year it was celebrated on 26 aug ,2017. About this i got aware about last year by my jain friends who came near to me and said " MICHCHHAMI DUKKADAM " , i got shocked what they are saying ,then i ask them to explain me about this and they explained ...which really touched my hurt ....
Saying sorry by heart to each and every person you meet whether you have done mistake or not its not a easy task man , it takes guts.

Michchhami comes from two words Michchha and Mi meaning futile/useless and my/mine
Dukkadam means bad deeds

So the whole meaning is ‘May my bad deeds (faults) become futile. In other words ‘please forgive me.’

It is used widely in the Jain religion on the last day (Samvatsari or Kshamavani) of Paryushana, the most important annual holy event of the Jain calendar. As a matter of ritual, Jains greet their friends and relatives on this last day with Micchāmi Dukkaḍaṃ, seeking their forgiveness. No private quarrel or dispute should be carried beyond this time. The importance of forgiveness in Jainism may be compared to the importance of forgiveness in other religions.

The phrase is also used by Jains throughout the year when a person makes a mistake, or recollects making one in everyday life, or when asking for forgiveness in advance for inadvertent ones.

Not bad. Its another positivity/humanitarian practice. World could use more of these.

I like practices like these quite a lot. Even if they aren't always from the heart, the words still make a difference. Its like when Christians offer the sign of peace, or some practices involve saying thank you everyday, for every little thing in one's life, and expressing one's gratitude to the universe and beyond.

Just another sign of the good stuff that makes us human.

Nice post @ruchi :D
