Thanks for writing this. Im about to start my first novel and ive been struggling to pick the flaw for my lead. The part where you mentioned about the protagonist and antagonist flaws and strengths was eye opening. I never thought about it that way.

Hi, pleased I can help. The essence of story is conflict, so it makes sense to play off the positive and negative characteristics of your characters. The more flaws you include for your main character, the more you can play them off against other characters. I will do a post on character construction soon, but for the moment, one thing to think about: No one thinks of themselves as a villain - everyone is the hero of their own story.
