Shaista Khan was a famous Subedar or provincial ruler of Bengal during the Mughal era. His fame was largely as the subahdar of Bengal. He ruled Bengal 22 years in two phases. First from 1664 to 1678 and the second time from 1680 to 1688. During his reign, there was a great improvement in Dhaka and the best time of the Mughal rule was passed in this province. During his time, rice was available for all to buy easily.
