On the Greek island of Skiathos, the architectural firm Lydia Xynogala has built a modern house that can be adapted to the sloping Mediterranean landscape.
The house consists of three adjacent adjoining rooms, all with their own outdoor terrace, offering a picturesque view of the sea. The entrance is at the highest level of the residence. In a narrow corridor, a staircase descends into the building. On one side of the house is a living room, a large kitchen and a dining room. The other side consists of two guest bedrooms, while the master bedroom is located on the lowest level. Sliding glass doors connect different areas of the house. Through the use of glass in addition to the shiny gray marble, the architect created an intentional rupture in style, contrasting with solid exterior walls and ocher tones. The marble, plaster and terracotta tiles show the preference of the architect for the construction of modern houses with natural materials.
