Your way of teaching your daughters the link between hard work and reward is really efficient and impactful, in my opinion. Showing children this when they're young is really important, rather than when they're much older because then they'll either be used to working without expectations or having a sense of entitlement without any effort on their part.

Agreed. . . I think a lot of children, especially those growing up in suburban America, have no idea how easy/simple/rich their lives are and how much real work is required to make it in the real world. My daughters are still young and I want them to enjoy their childhood, but I need to start getting these lessons in here and there so that they are more aware, mindful, and grateful.
