Nutrition & Healing
My first meal of the day was an omelet with two of the Teton Waters uncured Polish sausages that I chopped up in my food processor, along with some gouda cheese made from raw milk. That's sort of a weird combination, but it worked. I am currently out of bacon, I'm sorry to say.
I had plans to eat a roast (pictured below) for my second meal today, but it was a disaster. My slow cooker seems more like a slow burn-everything-er. I cooked the roast on low for 8 hours, and it looked like it was working out fine a couple of hours in. By the time it was supposed to be done, all of the juices had dried up and turned black and crispy, and the poor roast was dry, bland, and basically inedible. Stella T. Dog will probably get it, to be honest.
Because I didn't have anything else thawed out and was feeling super defeated, I went to a certain fast-food restaurant whose name rhymes with Bendy's and took advantage of a deal they have on Baconators. You buy one at regular price and get a second one for a dollar. That's cheaper than even just buying the patties when you factor in the bacon and cheese.
Normally, I avoid places like this, but I do go there from time to time. Today felt like one of those times. Obviously, I like to get grass-finished, pasture-raised beef and bacon and like to avoid shitty cheese. I was in no mood to attempt cooking something else, though. Even after the two Baconators, I was still kind of hungry, but oh well! There's always tomorrow.
Movement
Unfortunately, there was a discrepancy between the number of steps in my Actifit app and the Withings Health Mate app / my phone. This happens from time to time and there's really nothing I can do about it.
The Health Mate app showed me that I got in a total of over 84,000 steps during this past week, which is great. My goal is to get in 10,000 a day and I got in an average of over 12,000 per day.
Mindset
During my walk today, I listened to an episode of Kevin Stock Radio featuring an interview with Dr. Shawn Baker. I've heard many interviews with Dr. Baker and didn't really hear much of anything new in this one, but it was good nonetheless. I'll pretty much check out any podcast that some people are on, even if it's a lot of the same content. I appreciate the message that Dr. Baker is trying to put out there.
On a related note, I've also begun using a meditation app made by Sam Harris called Waking Up. I'm only a couple of days into it, but I'm enjoying it so far. I plan to keep going with it until I'm forced to buy a subscription and then I'll see how I feel about it at that point. Adding another subscription cost to my budget might not be in the cards right now.
