Fasting and Feasting
I'm sticking pretty closely to the 16:8 window of fasting and feasting. If I'm going to do one 36+ hour fast per week, I'm guessing that will most likely come on Mondays for me. I've done that a lot in the past, mostly because weekends would involve less activity and more food, and I would find myself just not even being hungry by Monday.
My schedule is a little different right now due to my work situation. This coming Monday, I've actually got two different job interviews. If I end up getting either of those jobs, I'll be going back to being at work starting early in the morning. Honestly, I can't wait for that. You'd think it'd be nice to have a bunch of days off, and it is to some extent, but I also get a little stir crazy.
The first meal I made today was a large omelet with eight eggs, some uncured ham that I got last weekend, and some sharp cheddar cheese. That was quite good.
My second meal was a New York Strip I got from Colorado Craft Beef. As of last night, I thought the 1.5-pound package was one big steak, but mostly because I left in the fridge for a little bit to partially thaw so that I could get the two steaks apart, but it didn't want to budge.
As I mentioned in yesterday's post, I ended up making a different steak because I wasn't hungry to an extent that I felt like eating 1.5 pounds of steak at one time. Because this one was frozen, I decided to leave it in the fridge and have it today.
Well, when I went to grab it from the refrigerator today, I discovered it was two steaks after all. Which makes sense... the entire package wasn't exactly the usual size and shape of a New York strip. In a way, I would prefer that they put the steaks in their own separate packaging, but it's okay. It was so delicious that I'll be eating the other half of it as soon as possible. Some days, I have the appetite for that much steak in one sitting. I didn't yesterday, and I didn't today either. I'm no Shawn Baker!
Colorado Craft Beef has spoiled me now, though. The quality and taste of this beef will make everything else pale in comparison. I'll just have to hope that when I do get a big freezer and source a local half or whole cow that I'm able to find something of comparable quality. Otherwise, I may just have to move to Colorado.
Mindset
I listened to episode 182 of Human Performance Outliers today, which featured an interview with Dr. Gary Schlifer. I've heard Dr. Gary Schlifer on the Peak Human podcast and enjoyed it, so I was excited about this episode.
Movement
As usual, you can check out the details about my movement today on my daily Actifit post. You can find that here if you're interested. The number of steps that showed up in Actifit didn't match the step counter in my Withings app. That happens sometimes. It's got a function to sync with a Fitbit, but I don't have one of those.
