Carnivore 75 Hard Redux: Day Two

in blog •  5 years ago

I made it just over 16 hours as far as fasting went today, but that's good enough, right? I broke the fast by cooking up a pound of the ground beef I got from Colorado Craft Beef yesterday as four burger patties. It tastes so good!

As usual, I made the burger patties in my cast-iron skillet and used a Frywall to protect the stovetop from splatter. I like using a Frywall more than a splatter screen because you can get still in there with a spatula without having to lift up the screen. It's always open.

Honestly, this beef costs a bit more than I usually want to pay for meat, but I think it's important to support small, family-owned farms as much as possible. If you can do it all the time, do it. If you can't, at least try to do it as much as you can.

The message of "eat the meat you can afford" is something I support but only to a certain extent. I think that almost anyone could work out ways to afford to support smaller farms if they got creative. It might require saving up money until you can afford to buy a whole or half cow, but it's something I think people should strive toward.

I'm currently in the planning stages of that myself. Because I'm not working full-time at the moment, it's on the backburner a little bit, but I'm looking into getting a freezer. Once I get the freezer, I've already got some ideas as to where I'll source my local, regeneratively raised, grass-fed beef.

I had one big meal today and wasn't really hungry again aside from a snack of some cottage cheese that I happened to pick up at the grocery store. I don't have that very often, especially since I'll end up snacking on it, but I do pick up some every now and then. It's made from pasteurized dairy, obviously, but I get a kind that only has three ingredients: milk, cream, and salt.

In order to fast for 16 hours overnight, I only have to fast until 7:30 am. I'll probably end up eating breakfast in the morning if I have to guess. I suppose I should just wait and see and write about that tomorrow, huh?

No walk today. Stella is sad.

As I mentioned in the post yesterday, I'll probably be posting the movement portion of my challenge as an Actifit post, and then I'll just link that here. That's not entirely ideal, but I want to keep up with my Actifit post and my SteemPress posts.

If you don't know about SteemPress already, you should look into it. If you have the ability to make a Wordpress blog, you can get the SteemPress plugin and then crosspost to both your Wordpress blog and to Steem.

When I do that, I've been getting some pretty decent upvotes from SteemPress.

Mindset

I listened to episode 578 of The Art of Manliness today, which was an episode about changing careers. I found this to be particularly interesting as I'm grappling with whether I'll be going back a project I've been working on for the past couple of years or starting something completely new. I'm sort of keeping all options open at the moment and looking for new work while I wait for the past project to start back up.

Listening to this while I was on the elliptical meant I was able to get two birds stoned at once. The episode was just barely longer than my elliptical workout was.
