BURGER IN GENEVA - LE CALAMAR

in blog •  9 years ago  (edited)

As some of you may know, for the last few years I've been living in Geneva, but the time has come for me to return  home to Zurich. My parents are so important to me and with them getting older I have decided to move back  to spend more time with them. For the last few weeks I have been slowly moving living and working between Geneva and Zurich. But now the time has come to say goodbye for good to Geneva.

The weather in Geneva has been beautiful, so it didn’t take much convincing to get the roomies out for a nice final lunch in the sun. With some beer.I ’m sure the beer part helped convince them. Actually, I think the beer won them over.

I threw something on and dashed over to Plainpalais, crossing some pedestrian stripes here and there which I initially waited for to turn green  like a good girl.

Until my rebellious side took over and I decided to just risk it (In Switzerland, you just don't cross the road until you see the green man, you just don't do it!).

Risk it proudly, might I add. What a rebel!

My parents would be shocked if they knew!Oh, and look at that grin… Who knew I would have so much pleasure when getting up to mischievous things!

While risking my life, I’m was wearing a simple lace sleeved shirt from H & M (similar), a Zara navy blue flowy skirt (similar) a Mango belt (similar), Zara heels and a vintage black clutch bag (similar) that I (may or may not) have borrowed (stolen) from my mum.

We made our way over to Le Calamar and plopped ourselves down outside in the sun and glanced down at the menu.

 Can I just say, woah!

The menu is entirely.. cat themed (to put it nicely), including a page on suggestions on naming your kitty!

Cats aside, the menu has a promising tune of deliciously sounding starters, some steak and fish related dishes, and last but not least, burgers.

The beers were served up (for the manly men) and an Aperol Spritz for myself.

The Spritz was very refreshing, as you can see. One soon turned into two and my giggles got louder and louder.

When ordering a burger at Le Calamar, salads always come first. So out came the salad for the burgered folks.

 Shortly after, the burger followed.

This burger, or should I say this beaut, is Le Calamar’s  King Kong Burger – or in other words – a monstrosity of a double steak & cheese burger.

 Look at that massive thing!

Heaven! My roomate Alex googly-eyed up my burger, but I fought him off like a lioness protecting her  precious cub, or like Sméagol protected the ring (*hisses* my precioussssssss).

He got kinda weirded out. Finally after all the hissing and protecting I did, his salmon steak arrived. The salmon steak was baked in herbs and was served up with a delicious side of buttery saffron rice.

My other roommate Marcio kept it simple by going for the bacon burger, cause he’s just so cool like that.

Being well fed (and slightly tipsy, not gonna lie) we headed back home. I than began to emotionally packup my final things and slowly said my goodbyes to all my friends in Geneva.

Goodbye Geneva, Hello Zurich!

Love Always,

Rosalina

Hmm. I should probably have read your post after dinner. Now I am hungry, and instead of writing going to go and look into getting some food.

That looks massive! Although that salmon steak seems rather great as well. You made me hungry now!

Quite the burger, there is something good and honest about a big ole burger!

you can say that again!

That burger looks amazing, nicely presented. The Salmon though would be my choice - all looks good

Yeah! I know the feeling to be at home. When you are at home you just feel more free. You can hangout with your school mates and best friends and do some real party. By the way Nice post @sisterholics
