The Taste of London Festival hit L-Town just as my other half was visiting London and so we had to go.
The Taste of London is an opportunity for restaurants to show off a small slice (or two) of their menus and us lucky ones got to taste it. Their website explains it beautifully. It was a gorgeous sunny day and the festivities were to take place in Regents Park, so we thought why not dress up a little. And so that is what we did. So let’s start off with the fashion part of the post, shall we?
Rosie wore an American Apparel Dress (which we have matching ones of, of course), pastel pink Zara Shoes (similar/similar), her trusted Louis Vuitton Alma, Dior Sunnies, and Love Is pearl necklace.I wore this Pull & Bear dress – which I got for a steal in the London sales. Plus the neoprene fabric was great as it was forgiving and stretched graciously when needed (and at a food festival, believe me, it is needed).I wore the dress with a Zara blazer and heels but these babies are older so you won’t find them anymore. Here’s something similar/similar instead! I wore the whole ensemble with a couple of accessories, my Louis Vuitton monogram idylle, my pink Hermes bracelet, and my Other Stories sunglasses.
We arrived a bit early and queued alongside hundreds of other hungry, excited people. While we were waiting, we carefully studied the menu and tried to figure out our plan of attack.
Ooooh, this looks good!” Just look at her strategising. She did study business after all.
Several minutes later, the bell rang and it was like a herd moving forwards. Everybody was excited to get in. We stopped and took a quick picture before we ran off too, looking for food.We headed in and our action plan was forgotten, we were just too excited by everything we saw.
“Where should we go? There?! Let’s go there!”
We saw a couple of witty names and signs. You all know how we love a good pun so it was decided, this would be my first of many stops.
I was lured to the 5 Star Haute Dog – Action Against Hunger stand.
There, I ordered what I thought was a mini vegetarian hotdog, only I think it didn’t turn out to be vegetarian.
Oh well! It was still pretty darn good, if you ask me.Wurst case scenario: it ain’t vegetarian but I pretty much ate it all anyway as it was basically one bite and then it was *gone*.Rosie went over to the Flesh & Buns stand and got… (suprise!) some flesh in a bun! Who would’ve guessed! To be more precise, she got herself a roasted pork belly mustard miso in a steamed bun.
Just look at that face. I think she enjoyed it.We then got something with a more Asian touch, but didn’t have to look for long when we found the Spice Market stand. There, Rosie got herself the Vietnamese Lobster Summer Roll, which looked pretty amazing.
I went for the spiced Samosa with a coriander yoghurt dip from there.
indulged ourselves in the flavours and soon after realized we were all empty handed. That is when we noticed the urgency to balance all that food with a little bit of drinks so we headed over to Mahiki.
Hmmm, I wonder what drew us over to the Mahiki stand…
The drinks, obviously!Just look at these delicious babies (again, I mean the drinks silly!). Our hand-model-slash-photographer and I went for a peach mojito and the bartenders accidentally put twice the amount of alcohol into the cups but we didn’t make a peep about it and instead generously accepted them.
The lovely sister had her eyes set for the big one: and with that I mean the big pineapple piña colada! Get your brain out of the gutter, please!
I did feel a pang of jealousy when hers was served up in a fancy hollowed pineapple and mine was just in a plastic cup but then I tasted mine and all jealousy was swallowed away (or should I say sipped away?).
We took a few steps and soon realized walking around and sipping on a massive pineapple don’t go all to well.
But the next picture, oh boy, it hands-down this has to be the winner. Rosie, being the oh-so-curious one had to see if the lidof her pineapple was edible. She nibbled, chewed, munched, crunched and bit away, all while making classy facial expressions, might I add. New profile picture perhaps, Rose?
Obviously, as you can see, I was appalled by my sister’s behavior!“Please, stay classy, always wear your invisible crown!” I whispered. She then she whipped out her arm and did this.
My beautiful facial expression meant I was crowned queen. All hail!
As you can see, the cocktails were working their magic! There’s much more headed your way from our experiences and tastes at Taste of London but as this baby is already a long one, we’ll save you a little bit for the next time.
Love,
Juliana

The main reason I love going to London these days is the awesome variety of foods. Last time I was there I discovered this awesome Middle Eastern Kebab shop right next to my hotel room and just kept eating for every meal for a whole weekend!
