Dream Beyond Imagination

Over the last few decades in Bangladesh, photography has flourished both in the form of art and as a medium for expressing opinion. Members of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology Photography Club (AUSTPC) have been working tirelessly to share their vision and imagination through photography.

AUSTPC, whose motto is ‘photography for social development’, recently arranged its 4th photo competition, named ‘Dream Beyond Imagination’.

After a thorough selection process, only 96 photographs, out of 3,000 that were submitted, were exhibited for three days from July 23 to 25 at Drik Gallery in Dhanmondi. Freelance photographer Anindya Kabir Avik was the curator of the show.

The exhibition showcased the very best and the most unique photos from both local and international participants. Prizes were given for first, second and third places, and there was an honorable mention. The winners, M Tofazzal Hossain, Sakeef Wahed, Akib Amjad and Anika Nawar respectively, each received scholarships for various photography programmes from Counterfoto. The competition was judged by photojournalists Shehzad Noorani of UNICEF and Abir Abdullah of EPA. Besides, all the participants received t-shirts and certificates.
