[Blog]Vote buying experiment

in blog •  7 years ago

In the last weeks(months), projects that offer votes for money have appeard. And this changed a little bit the landscape of Steemit, in my opinion.

And I say this, because now it’s not only about writing good posts, but how deep your wallet is and how many votes you can buy.

It’s nothing wrong with that. There is vote buying of instagram, twitter, Facebook pages buy likes, so why not something like to appear on Steemit as well.

For a period, I was against it. Because I believe (* I still do*), that good posts will get the votes. But sometimes, good posts are getting lost in the pile. I think that Steemit team still has a lot to work on the algorithm for promotion posts up the in feed, or an easier way for people to find post attractive to them. But that’s another discussion.

We are a lot of people, here on Steemit. And most of us are here for writing, not curating. Most of the curating is done automatically or is done by bots. I think I’ve read an analysis of @penguinpablo about how the number of posts dropped down during the DDOS attack, but the number of votes didn’t. Because the bots still continued to cast votes.

Seeing that the results that I was getting were not in my expectations, I wanted to try out this option. The option of buying votes. I’ve started with one post, then another, then another. I’ve placed the bits from the time, just to test the waters. I was happy about the results. I started to read posts from the people the tried the bots.

Last week, I decided to buy votes for every post. I’ve used the services offered by @randowhale, @minnowbooster and @minnowpond. Overall, I’m quite happy with the results. Overall, I should receive almost double the invested money, as author rewards in SBD and SP.

I’m quite happy with randowhale and minnowbooster. They always deliver good services and it’s worth the money. Regarding minnowpond... I’m still testing it. Especially since it changed its services fees in the last couple of days.

Since I’ve just started to monitor this investment, I don’t have too much data. But the articles that already started to cash out the rewards are showing good results. From 1.5 SBD invested in 3 articles, I’ve received 2.2 SBD and 1.86 SP. Of course, it counts a lot how good the posts are. Because these rewards were from other people voting in as well. But the votes that I bought weighted in quite a lot. It all matters on the strategy that you use.

What do you think about this?

Do you know other bots that offer these kind of services? So I could test them out as well.
