Thankfully not literal shit. But this pipe has seen better days for sure. The house my family and I live in was built in the late 40s. This pipe seems to be original.

My wife got home around 5. Said there was a huge leak in the bathroom. Water running through the ceiling.
She said she got it stopped.
Ok.
Well I was still at work until 730 at least. A friend stopped by to see if it was a simple fix. Nopppeeee. It was spraying water everywhere again. Shit.

He turned off the hot water and stopped the major leak.

I got home, got briefed and started putting stuff back together.
As I was screwing the connector back on something didn't feel right... Turns out the pipe is so old and rusted it was breaking apart as I screwed.

Thankfully we don't own the house and our landlord should work with us, but nevertheless this going to be a more involved repair than just re-taping and re tightening. Out of my league for sure...

Oh man, that's a pain. At least it's not on you to fix it. That pipe is rough looking. Hope it gets resolved quickly and satisfactorily for you.

All fixed up and and back in running order! Now to get the water damage repaired haha...
Thanks for stopping by!

That is an easy fix compared to what I just went through. Had to call the plumbers out for a full replacement of a homes main drain line.....$$$$$

Oh jeez... that sounds messy and awful! Yea, the plumber fixed it up with a quickness, but the price still makes me cringe and almost wish I'd become a tradesman years ago haha

Lets switch prices paid............haha

That sucks! At least it sounds like your landlord is going to help you out. Some of them don't really care. They just want to collect the rent check. I hope you're able to get it fixed soon!

Yea ours is pretty good. He and his family plan to eventually move back into this house so they want to make sure stuff gets fixed quickly and right. But right now they live in South Africa so we are on the hook for getting everything fixed and such and we just take the total out of the next months rent... Its nice to not get hit with stuff, but we still do all the leg work!

That's a unique situation to be in. There are pluses and minuses to it. If it works for you though, then good for you. Hopefully the fix isn't too complicated.
