Daily Dose of Sultnpapper 1/4/18> Global warming warning… STEEM is hot

Damn it is cold here in south Texas, Tuesday night it was in the low 20’s and as I am writing this on Wednesday night the temperature is falling like a rock now that the sun has gone down. It never got that high to begin with on Wednesday; I think it made it to 42 degrees Fahrenheit for the high. Waking up to frozen water pipes on the well wasn’t any fun either, there was a small section of pipe near the tank that the insulation had become dislodged and that was all it took to freeze the line. Luckily it didn’t break and hitting it with a hair dryer did the trick on thawing it out.

So, who is that wants to tell me about “global warming” again? Temperatures all around the US are at or near record lows for this week, and the east coast is about to get pounded with a huge winter storm from all the reports I’ve been hearing. Is this the global warming that we have been told to expect? Where is Al Gore when you need him to clarify what the hell is going on with the climate change?

Since he isn’t around I’ll fill you in on the global warming, STEEM is the new global warming. The price on it is really moving, it is a hot item at the moment. Activity here on steemit.com is catching the heat wave as well, I have noticed a significant up tick on activity personally and on the whole platform as well. This climate change here on steemit has gotten some of the whales acting a little peculiar, and some cats have gotten really grumpy and started issuing edicts earlier in the week in case you didn’t catch that bit of information. I also saw that the big glazier named Bit Coin has lost some of its massive size and is now only 36% of the total market cap on the crypto-currency landscape.

I’ll take all the global warming I can get at the moment, I like watching that wallet gain value during the day. Maybe, just maybe, the whales and cats can come to grips with their issues and make it where we can all survive with these flagging and down vote wars. I am not here to solve the issues of Steemit, I wouldn’t even begin to pretend I have the answers. So I’ll just watch, listen and learn as things take place.

There is some growth going on in the old Sultnpapper hang outs on here though and those need mentioned. The Steem Engine is booking passengers daily, passengers is our term for members, if you aren’t a passenger on The Steem Engine get over there and get you a ticket @thesteemengine. This is one train you do not want to miss catching a ride on, it isn’t a free ride, but it is worth your time that you will invest. The people are outstanding and the management is first class.

The Steem Poker League has been under a little fire lately from some big whale, but it hasn’t stopped the growth or participation over there at the poker tables. If you have some extra votes lying around and want to use them, pop a couple on a SPL post and help the league survive the whale attack.

Speaking of upVotes, I keep finding myself falling further and further behind at the end of the day in voting strength and longer and longer in the recovery time to get back to 100%. I’m not even done with what I need to upVote today and I’m still looking at over 41 hours to get back up to flush. So, if I am not upVoting comments like I normally do please understand it is not because I don’t want too. Does anyone know how long it takes to get back to 100% if you run your voting % down to “0” % ? I may run that experiment one day, but if you know the answer please share it. My fingers wouldn’t know what to do with themselves if they couldn’t click the upVote ticker for several days.

Speaking of losing and strength, my oldest boy is a big loser. He is a big loser in a good way though. When he was in high school he played defensive line, nose guard position. He only stands like 5’6” tall but his shoulders will fill up a full size doorway. He suffered a couple of concussions playing football and the last one was pretty severe, it took over six months to get him back to normal after that head knock he took. The first concussion was in his freshman year and the second was in his sophomore year.
He wasn’t a happy camper when the wife and I pulled the plug on his football dreams; we would not sign the papers for him to play his last two seasons of high school football. He was really pissed and he still isn’t happy with me to this day over it. He was built like a tank and was armed with aggression when played, but when we took the game away from him he stopped keeping himself in shape.

In May of 2017 he was tipping the scales at over 310 lbs and flat out if shape.

A couple of his good friends talked him into joining a gym with them back in May. He has gotten on a pretty good routine as far as working out, running and playing basketball. The gym he belongs too changed ownership recently and the new owner has been meeting the regulars, and talked with my son the other night. The owner said that everyone kept saying you need to talk to T-Bone, my son, and hear his story. The owner was talking to people about putting up a “wall of honor” that would feature members and tell their stories about how and why the gym has helped them type thing.
T-Bone has lost sixty two pounds since joining the gym back in May. He works out six days a week and runs or plays basketball those days as well. He is rock solid now, yes he still weighs quite a bit but he is solid muscle. The gym owner said that he will be making T-Bone his first inductee on his wall of fame. So I am happy to share his success story with you as well.

He got approval for a steemit.com account but hasn’t done anything with it yet, so he is a loser in that regard too. Not something to be proud of, but hey, you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make them drink. Might be the lingering effects of those concussions, there are some signs with him that actually make me say that, he always had a lot of compassion for people before those concussions but that is long gone now. It might just be the testosterone kicked in or it could be the knocks on the head. Don’t know how you would ever know either.
He’s a good kid overall and I wouldn’t trade him for the world, maybe a million BitCoin, but not the world.

Not much else new or worth sharing tonight, doesn’t look like Al Gore is going to show up and fill us in on the global warming so I’ll cut you all lose from this dose so you can find something interesting to check out.
