A few of you might already know that hubby and I have decided to grow our family, exciting times for us! We do things a little differently around here however, that is, we don’t go making our babies the conventional way. Adoption is our option!

You see, we tried and TRIED (oh trust me we tried), to conceive a child, but it just wasn’t in the cards for us. So, in 2015 we decided to go the adoption route and only a few months later, we were blessed with the most beautiful blue-eyed boy! This was our destiny, our journey, and it’s time to travel again!
Last week we went to see our social worker for baby number two! This is the first step in a somewhat emotional and intricate process. This step includes excitement, nervousness, uncertainty and a whole lot of anxiety – much like being pregnant actually! Luckily, we have once again found ourselves in the very trusted and efficient hands of our social worker, who walks aside us and guides us through the wait, the wait to be matched with our son’s little brother or sister.
Our first meeting with said social worker included a brief counselling session and a chat about why we want to adopt and age preferences etc. This time around I was a lot more relaxed than our very first meeting with her three years ago! In fact, I thoroughly enjoyed our session and have grown very fond of this very kind-hearted lady – she is extremely passionate about her work and placing children with their forever families.
We left her office with a list of all the paperwork we need to gather and complete over the next few weeks, before scheduling our next appointment where we hand it all in and officially become “paper pregnant”. So, the wait hasn’t started just yet! Patience is definitely key when becoming an adoptive parent.
In the meantime, I have started filing all the documents we need to gather, but more importantly, I have started praying for our little one’s safe arrival. Adoption from the adoptive parent’s perspective is a beautiful and humbling journey, but being and adoptee comes with many mixed emotions, usually due to the very uncertain (and somewhat unfair) start to their lives. So, I pray that baby number to is blessed with courage and confidence and knows that wherever he or she may be, whether here in this world or yet to be born, that someone wants to love them unconditionally, forever and day.
I’ll keep you all updated, would love to share this journey with you!

Haha, I like the term "paper pregnant." I despise paperwork, but I know it's always a necessary evil for things like this. I hope you have a smooth journey through the adoption process this time around. I can't wait to read more about your adventure and to find out whether your son gets a brother or sister!
