in blog •  6 years ago

He is an ungulate artiodactyl of the deer family. It is a large species, with a cross at the top of 140 cm and a weight of up to 180 kg. The females are smaller than the males.

It has a reddish brown fur in summer, which in winter becomes thick and grayish brown and underneath it is whitish, although albino specimens are relatively frequent. Around the tail it has a stain of ante color. The ears are large and especially evident in the female. The females are smaller than the males. They have branched antlers, bony appendages of the skull, which develop each year and cease after the estrus or breeding season.
The growth horns have a wide vascularization. The size and number of tips of the horn can give an idea of the age of the youngest specimens, however in adults it is related to the genetic characteristics of the animal and its nutritional status. The horn does not develop completely until six or eight years and begins to degenerate after ten, reducing then the hunting value of the piece.
