Pimp My Ride: Painting the Car! Part 4.

in blog •  6 years ago

Hi there! I delayed with the post for one reason... I found on sale the hood I needed. So, I was able to do more than I wanted!

Let's start! For a long time, I could not find the hood in good condition... the car is old, and all the hoods that I looked before were rusty. But, quite by chance, I found it!

Then - according to the worked out scheme: Matting by sandpaper, applying an adhesion improver and covering with the protective coating.

And now - the most interesting :)

Probably even painting than I had never done before, didn’t cause as much fear in me as dismantling parts... As they say - the eyes are afraid, but the hands do! Not without the help of Google... as usual.

Yes, yes, yes, the door handle is set crooked - this is not yet adjusted.

Replacing the glass and locks in the doors, installing and adjusting the doors... all this just little things! Each fender is fixed on 18 bolts!!! I dirty swore while getting to each of these bolts :) But I did it!

In my opinion, not bad... especially for the first time. Of course, any true master will find a dozen (or maybe a hundred) mistakes, but I am satisfied.

Believe in yourself, friends! Only the one who does nothing is not mistaken!

My expenses for this part:

  • Hood - $ 25
  • Rubber strip for fenders - $ 5
  • Consumables (sandpaper, solvent, degreaser) ~ $ 10

Grand Total ~ $ 672

Sincerely, Terry Craft.

Nice job! I am not much of a body worker, so, It looks good to me. I didn't see anything too out of line and the paint is a great color.

Thanks a lot :)
