“I have to say, it’s been mildly entertaining to follow the news in the last couple of years. There’s this new fascinating phenomenon that’s starting to repeat itself like a broken song stuck in a time loop… Yet, it’s very intriguing none the least.
The story goes like this: Every couple of weeks, some sort of news breaks about a shocking revelation that everybody knew all along but played that game where we pretend it was nothing but a wild conspiracy theory.”
I have to confess that when I wrote the above quote I had no idea for how long this strange phenomenon would keep going or if those revelations would start getting dealt with by some form of censorship.
For better or for worse, this phenomenon is still going strong as we just learned this week that both Facebook and Google are secretly tracking everyone’sexual prefrences through porn websites even those using private browsers.
Yet another thing that everybody knew all along, but pretended it’s just a wild conspiracy theory… Again.
So the question comes to mind: Am I going crazy, or this has got to be some kind of crime?
I mean... Everyone has the right to keep their intimate things private if they wished. It’s not only that you cannot secretly spy on people without their knowledge because that’s immoral and disgusting.
Imagine if somebody picks the locks of your front door, and installs a hidden camera without your knowledge, you would be upset would you not?
But how do you qualify someone who literally resort to nothing short than “hacking” someone’s device to track them through anonymous tabs, private browsers and VPN services.
There is no way they can possibly pretend that they’re getting consent.
So yes, it’s just another episode of our favorite series “Business as usal”but the question remains:
What do they do with all that data they collect? Do they just sell it raw? Or do they used that data to add your sexual preferences to those psycho-graphic profiles they have for everybody?
Come to think about it, this may well explain why Facebook left Cambrige Analytica operate with total impunity while they were forming their own psycho-graphic profiles. It wouldn’t be a stretch to assume that the two companies were exchanging information.
Either way, it’s just the world we live in today, so you better watch out when you're watching porn cause someone is definitely watching you.
Illegal? No, the gestapo is never illegal. They are the law.
See, we just passed this law, 3 seconds ago that retroactively makes it legal for them to do so.
There are black boxes on ever single large fiber node. And yes, they are black.
F-c-book was a spying program... that was sold as "social media". So, whatever information is not gathered, stored and sorted, was not because it was against privacy, but because they just didn't think to do that yet.
So, do you embrace the complete lack of privacy? Or do you go off grid & net?

It's incredible how it's hard to get away from Facebook and the likes. In my last phone I never even installed Facebook. Yet the new android update install Facebook on your phone without your consent.
I'm sure they can spy on you without even installing the damn app or even opening an account, but not sure what to do about it.
You're right though, for anyone who wants a complete lack of privacy, going off the grid may be the only option I'm afraid.

The big sites know us scarily well, but I'm my case they will mostly see searches for music and technology stuff. Of course they can work out my politics too.
I thought this post might be related to the bitcoin blackmail emails I get saying they videoed me watching porn. They have obviously hacked some sites to find some of my old passwords as proof. I hope nobody pays up.

Haha no. But I'm with you man, I hope that nobody pays.
I think that was related to that massive hack with 900 million emails, people started collecting the passwords trying to see who falls for the trap.
Also I hope that nobody clicks those links and install a keylogger in the process :P

And it will change nothing because most users will stay with Facebook and Google instead of ruling privacy over comfort (although I can not see any comfort in the crap of Facebook). It's like, why the heck people use still Google search engine (there are alternatives), Facebook, WhatsApp (Why not Signal?), Google Playstore (hey, you can get rid of all the spyware)?
For the majority, it will become worse, while others need to borrow the majority's identities to stay under the radar.

Sadly, this sentence of yours sums it all:
It's so true, which sucks.

Repeating pattern in my life, the truth sucks, over and over again. But I prefer to see the sucking truth over swallowing the blue pill. :D
Have a great day!
