Awesome Solar Power And Burning Through Fire Wood On The Homestead

We had power to burn the other day so I ran a cryptocurrency mining rig on solar power for free. I also topped all all my rechargeable batteries and devices.

When the sun shines bright and full on the solar panels I can fire up a mining rig and mine cryptocurrency for free on solar power. In the summer this can be up to 8 hours long but in winter I am lucky to get half that. But still I am mining for free on excess solar power so anything I mine is free.

For those who dont know solar power as well I will explain a bit. Off grid homes must have more solar panels than they need on a good day so that on cloudy days they still have enough energy. But this means that on sunny days you have excess solar power.

You also need to have enough batteries to power your needs through the night or on a few cloudy days. Once your batteries are topped off though and the sun is still shining brightly, the rest of the energy is wasted. Some homes use water heaters to use this excess energy and some use grid power. We use a mining rig to gain something from our excess energy.

I also top off all my battery powered devices on sunny days to take full advantage of the sun.

We are burning through the fire wood like there is no tomorrow this year. Last year we started to burn fire wood in November full time. This year we already had to start up full time in September and we have not let the fire go out yet. We already burnt more fire wood this year than we did last year, I think.

I am going to head out into the woods to keep harvesting fire wood just to be on the safe side. Winter is just beginning and it looks like it is going to be a cold one.
